Magna Carta Libertatum,commonly called Magna Carta or sometimes Magna Charta,is a royal charter of rights agreed to by King John of England at Runnymede,near Windsor,on 15 June 1215. First drafted by the Archbishop of Canterbury,Cardinal Stephen Langton,to make peace between the unpopular king and a group of rebel barons,it promised the protection of church rights,protection for the barons from illegal imprisonment,access to swift and impartial justice,and limitations on feudal payments to the Crown,to be implemented through a council of 25 barons. Neither side stood by their commitments,and the charter was annulled by Pope Innocent III,leading to the First Barons' War.
Lawrenceville is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) and a major commercial hub within Lawrence Township in Mercer County,in the U.S. state of New Jersey. The community is situated roughly halfway between Princeton and Trenton,although Lawrenceville constitutes part of the New York metropolitan area,the CDP actually is located approximately 15 miles closer to Philadelphia than to New York City;and as with the remainder of Mercer County,lies within the Federal Communications Commission's Philadelphia Designated Market Area. As of the 2020 United States census,the CDP's population was 3,751,a decrease of 136 (−3.5%) from the 3,887 recorded at the 2010 census,which in turn had reflected a decrease of 194 (−4.8%) from the 4,081 counted in the 2000 census.

Runnymede is a water-meadow alongside the River Thames in the English county of Surrey,bordering Berkshire and just over 20 miles (32 km) west of central London. It is notable for its association with the sealing of Magna Carta,and as a consequence is,with its adjoining hillside,the site of memorials. Runnymede Borough is named after the area,Runnymede being at its northernmost point.

These libraries are included as special libraries because they are often funded separately from the rest of the university and they serve a targeted group of users.
Erwin Nathaniel Griswold was an American appellate attorney and legal scholar who argued many cases before the U.S. Supreme Court. Griswold served as Solicitor General of the United States (1967–1973) under Presidents Lyndon B. Johnson and Richard M. Nixon. He also served as the dean of Harvard Law School for 21 years. Several times he was considered for appointment to the U.S. Supreme Court. During a career that spanned more than six decades,he served as member of the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights and as president of the American Bar Foundation.
Dr. Chi Wang is a professor of U.S.-China relations and modern China at Georgetown University,where he contributed to the establishment of Georgetown's PhD program in Asian History and is co-chair of the U.S.-China Policy Foundation. Established in 1995,the foundation supports various activities through its Committee for U.S. Libraries and Museum Exchange. At Georgetown,Dr. Wang also contributed to the establishment of Georgetown's PhD program in Asian History Prior to his current positions,Dr. Wang was the head of the Chinese Section at Library of Congress and had worked in the field of librarianship for forty-eight years before retiring from LC in October 2004.
David Sean Ferriero is an American librarian and library administrator,who served as the 10th Archivist of the United States. He previously served as the Director of the New York Public Library and as the University Librarian and Vice Provost for Library Affairs at Duke University. Prior to his Duke position,he worked for 31 years at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology library. Ferriero was the first librarian to serve as Archivist of the United States.

Founded in 1800,the library is the United States's oldest federal cultural institution. The library is housed in three elaborate buildings on Capitol Hill. It also maintains a conservation center in Culpeper,Virginia. The library's functions are overseen by the Librarian of Congress,and its buildings are maintained by the Architect of the Capitol. The Library of Congress is one of the largest libraries in the world. Its collections contain approximately 173 million items,and it has more than 3,000 employees. Its collections are "universal,not limited by subject,format,or national boundary,and include research materials from all parts of the world and in more than 470 languages".
Carla Diane Hayden is an American librarian who is serving as the 14th librarian of Congress. Since the creation of the office of the librarian of Congress in 1802,Hayden is both the first African American and the first woman to hold this post. Appointed in 2016,she is the first professional librarian to hold the post since 1974.
Maria A. Pallante is the president and chief executive officer of the Association of American Publishers,a publishing industry trade association. Pallante is an American attorney who previously served as the 12th United States Register of Copyrights. She was appointed Acting Register effective January 1,2011,succeeding Marybeth Peters,who retired effective December 31,2010. On June 1,2011,she was appointed to the position which was intended to be permanent.
The University of Chicago Graduate Library School (GLS) was established in 1928 to develop a program for the graduate education of librarians with a focus on research. Housed for a time in the Joseph Regenstein Library,the GLS closed in 1989 when the University decided to promote information studies instead of professional education. GLS faculty were among the most prominent researchers in librarianship in the twentieth century. Temple was Acting Register of Copyrights from October 21,2016 to March 26,2019,when Librarian of Congress Carla Hayden promoted her to Register of Copyrights and Director of the United States Copyright Office. She announced her resignation on December 9,2019,effective January 3,2020.
