Dead Sands is a Bahraini multi-lingual horror-comedy film directed by Ameera Al Qaed and produced by Zeeshan Jawed Shah, Ameera Al Qaed, Ahmed Zayani, and Noor Al Ebrahim, starring various debuting actors. The screenplay is written by Ahmed Zayani. The film is widely regarded as being the first zombie film produced in Bahrain. [1] The film is sponsored by Ahmed Zayani and Sons, [2] [3] Bahrain Cinema Company, and NYIT Bahrain, Dead Sands' media sponsor is local youth magazine CoEds and Daily Tribune.

Plot

In the wake of a viral outbreak throughout Bahrain, a group of strangers become acquainted with each other when they realize that they must unite to ward off the undead plague. [4] [5] [6]

The Al-Menber National Islamic Society is the political wing of the Sunni Islamist Al Eslah Society in Bahrain and Bahrain's branch of the Muslim Brotherhood. The president and patron of the Al Eslah Society is Shaikh Isa bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, a member of the Al Khalifa royal family and former labor minister of Bahrain. Prominent members of Al-Menber include Salah Abdulrahman, Salah Al Jowder, and outspoken MP Mohammed Khalid. The 5th Arabian Gulf Cup was the fifth edition of the Arabian Gulf Cup. The tournament was held at the Al-Shaab Stadium in Baghdad, Iraq and took place between 23 March and 9 April 1979. Hosts Iraq won their first ever title after defeating Saudi Arabia 2–0 on 8 April 1979, becoming the second team to win the competition after Kuwait.

It is a collection of gritty shorts centered on the capital city of Bangladesh, Dhaka, and the people living in its margins. It was awarded "Best Original Screenplay" at the 11th edition of the Jaipur International Film Festival (JIFF), held from January 18 to 22, 2019 in Jaipur, India. It is one of the first two films to enter Netflix originating from Bangladesh. It was selected as the Bangladeshi entry for Best International Feature Film at the 93rd Academy Awards, but it was not nominated. It was also screened at 51st International Film Festival of India in January 2021 in Country in focus section.
