Deconstruction was an American alternative rock band formed by bassist/singer Eric Avery and guitarist Dave Navarro, both formerly of Jane's Addiction, with drummer Michael Murphy. They released their sole album in 1994. [1]

History

Following the initial breakup of Jane's Addiction in 1991, Avery and Navarro formed Deconstruction as a one-time project. [2] They had initially invited Jane's Addiction drummer Stephen Perkins to join the project, but Perkins decided to join Porno for Pyros instead. [3] Michael Murphy was recruited for the Deconstruction project.

The band released the album Deconstruction in 1994; it did not sell well but received favorable reviews from critics. [2] A video was produced for the track "L.A. Song". [4] The band never toured because Avery was uninterested in doing so after the stress of his years with Jane's Addiction. [5] In his biography, Navarro described Deconstruction as "more of an artistic experiment than anything else. We didn't have songs; some people viewed us as geniuses and others viewed us as fools. And, personally, I could see the rationale behind both points of view very clearly." [6]

Deconstruction disbanded shortly after the release of the album. Avery then formed the band Polar Bear, [7] while Navarro joined Red Hot Chili Peppers. [8]

Strays is the third studio album by American rock band Jane's Addiction, released on July 22, 2003, on Capitol Records. Released 13 years after Ritual de lo Habitual (1990), the album marks the band's longest gap between full studio albums, although the group had recorded and released two new songs six years prior on the compilation album Kettle Whistle (1997). Strays is the first album to feature bassist Chris Chaney. Regarding the decision to record a new studio album after such a long hiatus, drummer Stephen Perkins stated that the band had already completed two reunion tours performing old material, and that Jane's was ready for "a new challenge."

Porno for Pyros is an American alternative rock band formed in Los Angeles, California, United States in 1992, following the break-up of Jane's Addiction. The band comprised former Jane's Addiction members Perry Farrell (vocals) and Stephen Perkins (drums), as well as Peter DiStefano (guitar) and Martyn LeNoble (bass), until LeNoble was replaced by Mike Watt during the recording of 1996's Good God's Urge.

David Michael Navarro is an American guitarist, singer, songwriter, and television personality. He is best known a member of the rock band Jane's Addiction, with whom he has recorded four studio albums. Between 1993 and 1998, Navarro was the guitarist of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, recording one studio album, One Hot Minute (1995), before departing. He has also released one solo album, Trust No One (2001). Navarro has also been a member of Jane's Addiction-related bands Deconstruction and The Panic Channel.

The Panic Channel was an American alternative rock band formed in Los Angeles, California, United States, in 2004, following the third break-up of Jane's Addiction. The band consisted of vocalist Steve Isaacs formerly of Skycycle and three Jane's Addiction members: Dave Navarro (guitar), Chris Chaney (bass), and Stephen Perkins. The band released one studio album, entitled (ONe) in 2006, and entered an indefinite hiatus in 2007.
