Deerfield Square is an upscale lifestyle center shopping area located in Deerfield, Illinois. The center was the first of its kind in the area, but now faces more competition. It opened in 2000. Major retailers in the mall include Ann Taylor LOFT, Athleta, Walgreens, and Whole Foods Market. [1]

History

Deerfield Square was redeveloped from the former Deerfield Commons shopping center, originally built in the 1950s. [2] This redevelopment began in 1998. [3] The 17-acre (69,000 m2) development was spearheaded by Northbrook developer Chuck Malk, who owned Deerfield Commons. Construction began in late 1998 [4] and was completed in 2000. [5] Deerfield Square has a 200,000-square-foot (19,000 m2) retail area and a 60,000-square-foot (5,600 m2) office space. [6]

Rubloff secured the funding for the Evergreen Plaza from the Walgreen family who lived nearby in Beverly, Chicago. The Evergreen Plaza operated from 1952 to 2013. It featured over 120 stores, as well as a food court. The mall closed in 2013 and became an outdoor shopping center. Anchors include Whole Foods Market, and Burlington Coat Factory.

It is located at 860 Deerfield Road, 2 blocks west of Illinois State Route 43, is 24.6 miles (39.6 km) away from Chicago Union Station, the southern terminus of the line. The station serves commuters between Union Station and Fox Lake, Illinois. As of 2018, Deerfield is the 39th busiest of Metra's 236 non-downtown stations, with an average of 1,133 weekday boardings. The current station originally served the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul & Pacific Railroad, and replaced two older stations built by the railway.

In Metra's zone-based fare system, Lake Cook Road is in zone E. As of 2018, Lake Cook Road is the 43rd busiest of Metra's 236 non-downtown stations, with an average of 1,086 weekday boardings. The station exists along a railroad line that originally served the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad. It is the last stop outbound on the line inside Cook County. Lake Cook Road is a major east–west highway in Cook, Lake, McHenry, and Kane Counties in Illinois. For much of its length, it marks the border between Cook and Lake Counties, hence the name of the road. In its western stretch, it marks the border between McHenry and Cook Counties, and further west, McHenry and Kane Counties. The Original Outlet Mall was an indoor outlet mall located in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Opening in 1982 as the first outlet mall in Wisconsin, the mall was demolished in two phases from 2005 to 2006, with an Ashley HomeStore built on part of the site.

Market Place Shopping Center is a shopping mall located in Champaign, Illinois, US. The mall's anchor stores are Dick's Sporting Goods House of Sport, JCPenney, Macy's, and Costco Wholesale. It is the second largest enclosed shopping mall in Central Illinois.

Former anchors include Best Buy, Bally Total Fitness, Old Country Buffet, Blockbuster Video, GameStop, OfficeMax, Sports Authority, TJ Maxx, Venture, Wonder, The Great Indoors, and Art Van Furniture. The mall is located on Waukegan Road, north of the Edens Spur and south of Lake Cook Road. The mall is a low priority for its developer, as its website has not been updated since 2018, as seen in the website's property map.

Williamsburg Outlet Mall, originally Outlets Ltd., was a 250,000-square-foot (23,000 m2) outlet shopping complex located in Williamsburg, Virginia. The shopping center had 40 stores. It opened in 1983.
