Delhi Giants (formerly Delhi Jets until the 2008 Edelweiss 20's Challenge) was one of the nine teams played in the now-defunct Indian Cricket League (ICL). This team represented the Indian capital city, New Delhi, and its captain was Marvan Atapattu, former skipper of Sri Lanka. [1] [2]

Deshabandu Marvan Samson Atapattu is a Sri Lankan cricket coach, commentator and former cricketer who played for 17 years for Sri Lanka. Considered one of the most technically sound batsman in his era, Atapattu has scored six double centuries in Test cricket for Sri Lanka, irrespective of five ducks in his first six innings. Atapattu also captained the Sri Lankan team which won the 2004 Asia Cup.

Mohammad Kaif is a former Indian cricketer, who played Tests and ODIs. He made it to the national team on the strength of his performances at the Under-19 level, where he captained the India national under-19 cricket team to victory in the Under-19 World Cup in 2000. With India, Kaif was a member of the Indian team that was one of the joint-winners of the 2002 ICC Champions Trophy, which the title was also shared with Sri Lanka, and was a member of the team that were runners-up in the 2003 Cricket World Cup. He is regarded as one of the greatest fielders of all time along with Yuvraj Singh.

Madan Lal Udhouram Sharma is a former Indian cricketer (1974–1987) and Indian national cricket coach. He was a member of the 1983 Cricket World Cup winning India squad.

Hasan Raza is a Pakistani former cricketer who played for the Pakistan national cricket team between 1996 and 2005. He initially was subject to something of a claim for an international cricketing record, as his debut performance was believed to have taken place at the age of 14 years and 233 days, then a world-record, sparking investigations over the legitimacy of his age claims.

The Jammu and Kashmir cricket team is a cricket team based in the Indian union territory of Jammu and Kashmir, run by JKCA. It is in the Elite Group C of the Ranji Trophy. Its main home ground is the Sher-i-Kashmir Stadium in Srinagar, and it also plays at Gandhi Memorial Science College Ground in Jammu.

The Indian cricket team toured Sri Lanka in August 1997, participating in two Test matches and three One Day International (ODI) matches. During the first Test match, Sri Lanka scored 952 runs for 6 wickets, the highest team total in Test cricket. Several more records were established in this match, including the highest partnership for the second wicket by Sanath Jayasuriya and Roshan Mahanama. The Test series ended without a result, with both Test matches drawn.

The Indian Cricket League (ICL) was a short-lived cricket league that ran from 2007 to 2009. It was sponsored by Zee Entertainment Enterprises, a media company. The ICL had two seasons, featuring four international teams and nine domestic teams from India, Pakistan and Bangladesh. The matches were played in the Twenty20 format, which was new and exciting at the time. The ICL also planned to have a 50-over tournament, but it never happened.

Abu Nechim Ahmed is an Indian cricketer who plays for Nagaland in domestic cricket and played for Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League. He is a right-arm fast bowler and right-handed lower order batsman. He captained Assam cricket team in the Ranji Trophy, Vijay Hazare Trophy and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

The 1997 Pepsi Independence Cup was a quadrangular ODI cricket tournament held in May 1997 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the independence of India. It featured the national cricket teams of New Zealand, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and the hosts India. The tournament was won by Sri Lanka, which defeated Pakistan in the best-of-three finals. Sri Lanka became the Champion.

2017–18 Zonal T20 League was a Twenty20 cricket competition in India. It was played from 7 to 16 January 2018. It was the second edition of the tournament, following the 2016–17 Inter State Twenty-20 Tournament held in January and February 2017.

The 2019–20 Vijay Hazare Trophy is the 18th season of the Vijay Hazare Trophy, a List A cricket tournament in India. The 2020–21 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy was the twelfth season of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, a Twenty20 cricket tournament played in India. It was contested by 38 teams, divided into six groups, with six teams in Group A. Jammu & Kashmir, Karnataka, Punjab, Railways, Tripura and Uttar Pradesh were placed in Group A, with all the matches taking place in Bengaluru. Punjab won Group A to qualify for the knockout stage of the tournament. Karnataka also qualified for the quarter-finals, finishing as one of the best two second placed teams across groups A to E.

The 1987–88 Santosh Trophy was the 44th edition of the Santosh Trophy, the main State competition for football in India. It was held in Kollam, Kerala. Punjab defeated Kerala 5–4 in sudden death in the final to win the competition for the sixth time.
