Desus vs. Mero is a weekly podcast show and web series hosted by Bronx natives Desus Nice and The Kid Mero. The podcast was first released on 18 December 2013 and after 46 episodes it ended on 31 December 2014. Rena Marlette Lesnar, better known as Sable, is an American former model, actress, and retired professional wrestler. She is primarily known for her time in the WWF. She began working for the WWF in 1996. As Sable, she gained immense popularity during the Attitude Era. After feuding with Luna Vachon, and Jacqueline, Sable became the second WWF Women's Champion after the title was reinstated into the company. After leaving the company in 1999, she filed a $110 million lawsuit against the company, citing allegations of sexual harassment and unsafe working conditions.
Bryan Callen is an American stand-up comedian, actor, writer and podcaster. He studied acting at the Beverly Hills Playhouse. Callen initiated his career as one of the original cast members on the sketch comedy series MADtv. Callen played Coach Mellor in The Goldbergs and reprised the role as a main character in the Goldbergs spinoff series Schooled. He is co-host of the podcast The Fighter and the Kid, alongside Brendan Schaub.

Brendan Peter Schaub is an American podcast host, former professional mixed martial artist, and stand-up comedian. He is the host of The Fighter and the Kid podcast, the Below the Belt with Brendan Schaub podcast, and co-host of the Golden Hour podcast, along with fellow comedians Chris D'Elia and Erik Griffin. After signing with Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) in 2009 to compete on The Ultimate Fighter, he fought for the company until 2014. He officially retired from mixed martial arts (MMA) in 2015. Since 2015, Schaub has been performing stand-up comedy, initially as a duo act with comedian Bryan Callen, but more recently as a solo comedian. Schaub released his debut comedy special titled You'd Be Surprised in 2019 followed by his second special, The Gringo Papi in 2022.

Ziwerekoru "Ziwe" Fumudoh is an American comedian and writer known for her satirical commentary on politics, race relations, and young adulthood. She created the YouTube comedy show Baited with Ziwe and its later Instagram Live iteration, she was a writer on Desus & Mero from 2018 to 2020, and in 2018 she co-hosted Crooked Media's Hysteria podcast. Fumudoh stars in and executive produces the Showtime variety series Ziwe, which premiered in May 2021.

It originally aired on the Fox network in the United States on November 15, 2020. In the episode, Grampa Simpson is accused of murdering his girlfriend, and Kent Brockman creates a podcast about it. Brockman's podcast is able to convince the town that Grampa was guilty of the crime, including Grampa himself, who confesses to the police. However, after the discovery that Grampa's girlfriend is still alive, he is exonerated and set free.
