Devilsdorp is a South African four-part true crime documentary television series directed by David Enright and narrated by Jana Marx. It depicts and analyses the 11 killings in Krugersdorp, West Rand by the group Electus per Deus (Chosen by God) between 2012 and 2016, dubbed the Appointment Murders and the Satanic Murders. It was released on Showmax on 29 July 2021.

Production

Research for the project took place over the course of 18 months, incorporating real-life interviews. It was co-created and developed by Kristen Broberg and Executive Producer, Wim Steyn (IdeaCandy) and directed by David Enright. The series was edited by Nikki Comninos and Christiaan Scheepers. Jana Marx, an investigative journalist who wrote The Krugersdorp Cult Killings: Inside Cecilia Steyn's Reign of Terror, narrated and was consulted for the series. [2] [3]

Hosted and narrated by Madeleine Baran, and produced by Samara Freemark, the series featured investigative journalism and in-depth reportage from APM's investigative reporting and documentary unit, APM Reports. The series produced two full seasons, each focusing on a high-profile case and the actions and conduct in the policing or prosecuting of those cases — the kidnapping/murder of Jacob Wetterling and the quadruple homicide case for which Curtis Flowers was tried 6 times. A subsequent "Special Report" series, released in spring 2020, reported on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in the Mississippi Delta. Casefile, is an Australian crime podcast that first aired in January 2016 and is hosted by an Australian man who remains anonymous. The podcast, produced by Casefile True Crime Podcast, is usually released on a Saturday for three consecutive weeks, with a bonus episode on the fourth week.
