Dexerto is a video game and entertainment news website operated by Dexerto Limited. [3] [4] Founded in 2015 and headquartered in London, the site focuses on the coverage of internet culture and video games alongside its blog Charlie INTEL. Dexerto's media presence includes various large social media profiles and several podcasts. [5]

History

Dexerto was founded on 19 March 2015 by Joshua Nino, Chris Marsh, Mike Kent, and Nicolas Hulsmans. [6] [7] It originally launched as two websites, in English and French, focusing on the coverage of Call of Duty and other video games. [8] A Spanish website was also launched. [7]

In January 2017 Dexerto attempted to raise £200K through the crowdfunding platform Seedrs. [9] According to Seedrs' website, the campaign raised £208,112. [10]

Dexerto director Mike Kent won joint "Reporter of the Year" at the 2018 UK Esports Awards. [11]

Dexerto's gaming coverage includes Counter-Strike , Overwatch , and League of Legends, as well as online entertainment and internet celebrities. [12]

In September 2020, the site named veteran esports journalist Richard Lewis as editor-at-large. [13]

In 2022, Dexerto's users exceeded 30 million per month, and the company reported in excess of $10 million in revenue. [14]

Wendel won the CPL World Championship for Aliens vs. Predator 2 in 2001. He became a world champion in Unreal Tournament 2003 after winning the 2002 CPL Winter event. Wendel's achievements extended to Doom 3, where he became the inaugural champion at QuakeCon 2004. In 2005, he won his fifth world title in as many video game titles, after winning the CPL World title in Painkiller, securing an unprecedented $150,000 prize. Seán William McLoughlin, better known online as jacksepticeye, is an Irish YouTuber. Much of McLoughlin's YouTube content centres around gaming and vlogs. As of March 2024, his YouTube channel has accumulated 16.6 billion views and 30.6 million subscribers, making it the 2nd most-subscribed Irish channel on YouTube.
