Lloyd's of London, generally known simply as Lloyd's, is a British insurance and reinsurance market located in London, United Kingdom. Unlike most of its competitors in the industry, it is not an insurance company; rather, Lloyd's is a corporate body governed by the Lloyd's Act 1871 and subsequent Acts of Parliament. It operates as a partially-mutualised marketplace within which multiple financial backers, grouped in syndicates, come together to pool and spread risk. These underwriters, or "members", are a collection of both corporations and private individuals, the latter being traditionally known as "Names".

It owned the largest syndicate at Lloyd's of London, based on 2011 gross written premiums. Catlin shares were listed on the London Stock Exchange until it was acquired by XL Group plc in May 2015.

An underwriter at Lloyd's of London, the company largely specialises in niche areas of the market, offering property and casualty insurance aimed at companies and high-net-worth individuals, as well as cover against such risks as hacking, kidnapping and satellite damage. The company is listed on the London Stock Exchange and is a constituent of the FTSE 250 Index.

General Insurance Corporation of India Limited, abbreviated as GIC Re, is an Indian public sector reinsurance company which has its registered office and headquarters in Mumbai. It was incorporated on 22 November 1972 under Companies Act, 1956. It was the sole nationalised reinsurance company in the Indian insurance market until the insurance market was open to foreign reinsurance players by late 2016 including companies from Germany, Switzerland and France. GIC Re's shares are listed on BSE Limited and National Stock Exchange of India Ltd.
The International Underwriting Association (IUA) of London, better known as the IUA, represents companies that trade in the London insurance market outside Lloyd's. They include branches or subsidiaries of nearly all the world's largest international insurance and reinsurance companies. The exact size of IUA members’ contribution to the London market is not known. They wrote a total of at least £10 billion premium during 2009, a figure that does not include income processed outside the London market bureau. This business is wholesale, the bulk being made up of insurance for large multinational companies or reinsurance. Most of it is international, brought into London by brokers. The IUA provides a forum for discussing market issues and providing technical support to practitioners. IUA members collectively own a 25% share of Xchanging Ins-sure Services (XIS), the provider of back office processing services to the London market. History The IUA was formed in January 1998 from the merger of the London International Insurance and Reinsurance Market Association (LIRMA) and the Institute of London Underwriters (ILU). The main stated reason for the merger was the desire to give the London company market a single voice in dealings with government, regulators and other insurance bodies. Since the ILU had been formed in 1884, the IUA can claim to go back more than a century. The association has always made reform of the London market a top priority, especially the replacement of out-of-date processes and increased use of technology to conduct business. This led in 1999 to the creation of the IUA-Lloyd's Forum. This soon expanded to include brokers and eventually evolved into the London Market Group, which is still active today.
City Hindus Network (CHN) is a not-for-profit organisation created to promote networking, spirituality, education and charity amongst Hindu professionals. It was founded in 2005 by Dhruv Patel OBE, who was succeeded by entrepreneur Pratik Dattani. Its current Chair is Alpesh Patel OBE, who was appointed in December 2019. CHN is focused on building closer relationships between Hindu professionals working in the City of London.

The New York City region is home to the largest and most prominent Indian American population among metropolitan areas by a significant margin, enumerating 711,174 uniracial individuals based on the 2013–2017 U.S. Census American Community Survey estimates. The Asian Indian population also represents the second-largest metropolitan Asian national diaspora both outside of Asia and within the New York City metropolitan area, following the also rapidly growing and hemisphere-leading population of the estimated 893,697 uniracial Chinese in the New York City metropolitan area in 2017. The U.S. state of New Jersey, most of whose population is situated within the New York City metropolitan region, has by a significant margin the highest proportional Indian population concentration of any U.S. state, with a Census-estimated 4.6% of New Jersey's population being an individual of Indian origin in 2023.
Dominic Gerard Christian is a Councilman of the City of London Corporation where he represents the Ward of Lime Street. He is Global Chairman of Aon Reinsurance Solutions and a member of Aon's Global Executive. He is also the Deputy Chairman of Lloyd's of London. Christian has remained active in promoting awareness of climate change and emerging risks, acting as a Board Advisor at Save Money Cut Carbon as well as Chair of ClimateWise from 2018 to 2022. Christian has also been a non-Executive Chairman at ZPE Limited since February 2023.
Cuthbert Eden Heath OBE, DL was a British insurance businessman, underwriter, broker, and syndicate owner at Lloyd's of London from 1880 until 1939. A relentless innovator and novel risk-taker, he has been called "the father of modern insurance", "the maker of modern Lloyd's", and "the father of non-marine insurance at Lloyd's", having through his actions transformed Lloyd's from a British marine-only insurer to the complex and varied international general and specialty-risk insurer it is today, and having cemented Lloyd's sterling reputation, as a reliable insurer which promptly and fully paid all valid claims, in the U.S. and throughout the world.
