Dileep Singh

H.H. Raja Sir Dileep Singh K.C.I.E. (18 March 1891 - 8 February 1961) [1] was the last official ruler of the princely state of Sailana from 1919 to 1948. [1]

Raja Sir Dileep Singh was educated at the Mayo college Ajmer and completed his diploma and post diploma in the B.A. standard in 1912. He was further trained in Judicial and revenue works by Mr. A.T. Holve C.I.E, commissioner of Ajmer. He succeeded to the throne upon the death of his father Raja Sir Jashwant Singh II in 1919. [2]

He received the Delhi Durbar Medal in 1911, King George V Silver Jubilee Medal in 1935 and the Indian Independence Medal in 1948. [3]

He was created KCIE in 1934. [2] He served as president of Akhil Bharatiya Kshatriya Mahasabha in 1920 and 1930 and was the permanent vice president thereof. [4]

Singh was also the permanent president of the Kurukshetra Jirnodhar committee whose sole objective was the restoration of the ponds, lakes and shrines of Kurukshetra extending over 96 miles of the holy land. The Raja also constructed the Krishna temple at Thanesar. [5]

He was also a food connoisseurs of his time and built a collection of 5000 recipe. [6]

He signed the instrument of accession to the Dominion of India on 15 June 1948, merging the Sailana State in to the Union of India.[ citation needed ]

He died on 8 February 1961. He was succeeded by his son Digvijay Singh as the titular Raja of Sailana.[ citation needed ]

Sailana was once the capital of the Sailana State before it merged into India. A fort belonging to the former royal family still stands tall in Sailana. The Kedareshwar temple, situated 4 km (2.5 mi) from Sailana is a notable shrine.

Rana Ram Singh, KCIE was the Jat ruler of Dholpur state (1901–1911) in what is now Rajasthan, India. He was from Bamraulia gotra of Jats. He was born on 26 May 1883 and succeeded Rana Nihal Singh in 1901 after his death. He was not of age when he ascended to the throne. He got full rights in March 1905.

Sir Baber Shumsher Jung Bahadur Rana, GCVO, GBE, KCSI, KCIE was a member of the Rana dynasty who served as the Minister of Defence of Nepal in 1951. A prominent member of the Rana oligarchy, he fought valiantly in the First World War. He was the second son of Maharaja Sir Chandra Shamsher Jang Bahadur Rana and Bada Maharani Chandra Loka Bhakta Lakshmi Devi. He was the younger brother of Maharaja Sir Mohan Shamsher Jang Bahadur Rana and older brother of Field Marshal Sir Kaiser Shamsher Jang Bahadur Rana.

The only son of the previous ruler, Sir Mangal Singh Prabhakar Bahadur, Sir Jai Singh initially was noted as brilliant, erudite and charming. However, he was later forced into exile. He died in 1937 at the age of 54. He was succeeded by a distant relative, Tej Singh Prabhakar Bahadur.

Shrimant Raja, Sir Chintamanrao Dhundirao Patwardhan also known as Appasaheb Patwardhan was the 3rd Raja of the princely state of Sangli of British Raj during the reign. He signed the accession to the Indian Union on 19 February 1948 which ended the separate existence of Sangli State.
