Dinsoor District (Somali : Degmada Diinsoor) is a district in the southern DooyShabeelleState region of Somalia. Its capital is Dinsoor.

Raaso district in Ethiopia is a district in the Somali Region of Ethiopia. situated in the Afder Zone,raaso sits as the most populated town in Afder Zone. The population of the district of Raaso is estimated to be around 941,000. The district of Raaso is inhabited by reer Aw Qudub( Sub-clan of the larger Sheekhaalclan). Raaso is situated along the Imi–Ginir road, some 40 kilometers north-west of West Imi village at a latitude and longitude of 6°32′N41°47′E. The other towns around Raaso district are Buundada which is located on Shabeelle River, Dhaley and others. The area is characterised by thick, hilly bushland with seasonal rivers nearby that may carry water after rains, and where it is easy to dig shallow wells to get water available throughout the year.

The 2006 Islamic Courts Union offensive is the period in the Somali Civil War that began in May 2006 with the Islamic Courts Union's (ICU) conquest of Mogadishu from the Alliance for the Restoration of Peace and Counter-Terrorism (ARPCT) and continued with further ICU expansion in the country. Following the outbreak of the war on December 21, 2006; by December 24, direct Ethiopian intervention in the conflict in support of the Transitional Federal Government (TFG) was no longer denied by the Ethiopian government. The Eritrean government denied any involvement despite Ethiopian claims to the contrary.

The Silcis are a Somali subclan. They are part of the Gorgaarte subclan of the Hawiye clan, which is one of the major clans of Somali people. The Silcis inhabit the traditional coastal region of Benadir in the southern part of Somalia. This region should not be confused with the much smaller present day Banaadir administrative region (gobol) which contains Somalia’s capital Mogadishu. Silcis live, or have historically lived, along the Shabeelle River in towns such as Afgooye and Jowhaar, as well as along the coast, especially in Mogadishu and Warsheekh.
