Dorset College is a private college, located in Dublin city centre. Founded in 1983, it provides training in Computing, Business, English Language, University Foundation Programmes and Healthcare. [1] A number of its programmes are accredited by the QQI at level 5 to level 8 on the Irish National Framework Archived 22 January 2021 at the Wayback Machine , as well as this it has programmes validated by professional bodies such as CIPD, QQI ACELS (English Language) and PMI.

While many of its courses are Post Leaving Certificate [2] and part-time professional training, it also provides a Bachelor of Business degree and a Bachelor of Business (Hons) in International Business, [3] validated by QQI, who also validate the Bachelor of Science in Computing degree.

Dorset College is recognised by The Advisory Council for English Language Schools in Ireland (ACELS), under the auspices of The Irish Department of Education & Science, for the teaching of English as a foreign language. [4]

In November 2021, Dorset College joined the European, Erasmus Charter in Higher Education (ECHE). [5]

The college has four campuses, in Dorset Street, Belvedere Place, Mountjoy Square and the ABC Building in Drumcondra. There is a library. The college also offer a recruitment service to students, helping with CV preparation and interview skills.

There were seven establishments of higher education within Ireland ranked among the top 500 universities worldwide by the Times Higher Education Supplement in 2023.

Post-Leaving Certificate (PLC) courses are a set of courses and qualifications run in Ireland for students who have finished their secondary education. The term refers to post-secondary education courses which are not found within the higher education sector, but the further education sector in Ireland. The majority of students who enrol on a PLC course are under 23, but mature students are also welcome, and increasingly enrolling on such courses. A Post-Leaving Certificate course is taken after a student has passed their Leaving Certificate, and is generally between one and two years in duration. PLC courses are aimed primarily at students who would like to develop vocational or technological skills in order to enter an occupation, or progress to higher education.

Founded in 1978 by St. Nicholas Montessori Society of Ireland, in 1980 it purchased St. Nicholas House in Dun Laoghaire, and in 1984 the college commenced running training courses in Montessori education, initially a diploma awarded by the London Montessori Training Centre. In 1994 the college became accredited by National Council for Educational Awards (NCEA) and developed degree courses in Montessori education. Galway Business School is a private business school in Galway, Ireland. Opened in 2000, the college initially provided further education business courses, and now provides QQI-validated degree courses. Galway Business School (GBS) was set up by the Galway Cultural Institute (GCI) which provides English language courses. From 2003, GBS provided courses validated by the Business and Technology Education Council (BTEC/EDEXCEL) and the Institute of Commercial Management (ICM). GBS also provides ACCA preparatory courses and ECDL programmes.
