Douglas County Speedway is a 3⁄8-mile (0.60 km) asphalt-paved motorsport race track in the United States. [4] The track is part of the Douglas County Fairgrounds, located right off of Interstate 5 in Roseburg, Oregon.

It mostly hosts late model racing, modified racing, and other local-level racing events throughout the year, which are held on a weekly basis on Saturdays from May through September. [2] The track is also used for rodeo and monster truck events. [1] The biggest event the track has hosted is the ARCA Menards Series West (formerly the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West), which has held 18 races at the track. The first was in 1966, and the most recent was in 2020.

Due to its small size, the infield is empty (only a patch of grass) and pit road is located outside the track behind the backstretch. The entrance to pit road is located in turn 2, with the exit back onto the track in turn 3.

Track history

The track was named Roseburg Speedway in 1960 and it featured a Hard Top class. [3]

On August 14, 2021, the track hosted the Outlaw 100, a Pacific Racing Association race. The race featured a two-car crash that led to one of the cars almost breaking through the wall and falling off the racetrack and into the track's parking lot. The driver was injured in the crash and taken to the nearby Mercy Medical Center hospital. Because of the heavy damage to the wall, the race ended after only completing 50 of the scheduled 100 laps. One of the drivers in the race was former part-time NASCAR Cup Series and NASCAR West Series driver Brandon Ash, a resident of the track's town of Roseburg. [5]

NASCAR

Douglas County Speedway hosted the NASCAR/ARCA West Series 18 times on three separate stints. [4] The first was from 1966 to 1971, although there was no race there in 1967 and 1970. [6] The second was from 2002 to 2010, [6] and the most recent was from 2016 to 2020. [6] The track was removed from the West Series schedule in 2021, partly due to the fact that the schedule was condensed from 11 races to 9. Multiple time winners include: Jack McCoy (2), Austin Cameron (2), Eric Holmes (3), and Derek Kraus (2). [6] Hershel McGriff, Peyton Sellers, Brian Ickler, Ryan Partridge, Todd Gilliland and Blaine Perkins have also won at the track. [6] The NASCAR Northwest Series held races at the track in 1985, 1998, and 1999. [6]

Hagerstown Speedway Racetrack

Hagerstown Speedway is a 0.5-mile-long (0.80 km) red clay oval auto-racing track, 6 miles (9.7 km) west of Hagerstown, Maryland, situated on US Route 40. It hosts weekly local racing of Late Model Sportsman, Pure Stock, and Hobby Stock divisions, and throughout the season hosts regional and national touring series such as the Lucas Oil Late Model Series, International Motor Contest Association, and FASTRAK. 2021 ARCA Menards Series 69th season of the ARCA Menards Series

The season began at Daytona International Speedway with the Lucas Oil 200 on February 13 and ended with the Reese's 150 at Kansas Speedway on October 23. Ty Gibbs was crowned the series champion, having won ten times and finished in the top four in 19 of 20 races.

The quarter mile in length track, which is paved with asphalt, mostly hosts late model racing, modified racing, and other local-level racing events throughout the year. The tracks holds weekly races under the NASCAR sanction as a member of the NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series. The biggest event it has hosted is the ARCA Menards Series West, which held races at the track from 2015 to 2019 as well as 1972.

Sammy Smith American racing driver

Samuel Smith is an American professional stock car racing driver who competes full-time in the ARCA Menards Series East, driving the Nos. 18 and 81 Toyota Camrys for Joe Gibbs Racing. He also competes in the CARS Tour late model racing series, where he has driven for car owners Barry Nelson, Marcus Richmond, and Donnie Wilson as well as Kyle Busch Motorsports. He is also a Toyota development driver. Smith was the 2021 ARCA Menards Series East champion.
