The Dutch pop punk band Destine released a cover version of "Down" as a stand-alone single on 1 October 2010 and as an iTunes download on 4 October. The official music video was meant to debut on EFM on 8 October, but was released through the band official YouTube page three days earlier on 5 October 2010, although it was deleted the next day. [113] Their debut album, Lightspeed , was released on 3 August 2011 in Japan, and included "Down" as a bonus track.

American electronicore band Breathe Carolina covered the track for the compilation album Punk Goes Pop 3 , [114] which was released on 2 November 2010. It was available for digital download on 16 September 2010. [115] A music video including live footage of the band performing the song was released on 2 February 2011. [116] Singer David Schmitt explained why the group chose the song to cover for the album as it "appealed to the band on a technical level" and how it "struck a chord with the way the duo talks." [117] Alternative Press named their version of the song as the 41st best "Top 50 Punk Goes Pop covers of all time". [118]

Kamaljit Singh Jhooti, better known by the stage name Jay Sean, is a British singer and songwriter. He debuted in the UK's Asian Underground scene as a member of the Rishi Rich Project with "Dance with You", which reached No. 12 on the UK Singles Chart in 2003. This led to him being signed to Virgin Records and having two UK top 10 hits as a solo artist in 2004: "Eyes on You" at No. 6 and "Stolen" at No. 4. They were included in his critically acclaimed debut album Me Against Myself which, though only moderately successful in the UK, sold more than two million copies across Asia and remains his most successful album to date. Orange Factory Music is an American production team formed in 1999 by record producers and songwriters Jeremy "JRemy" Skaller and Robert "Bobby Bass" Larow. Most noted for their discovery and development of Jay Sean, the duo met at the University of Vermont, before moving to New York to pursue their musical career. Skaller and Larow, professionally known as "J Remy" and "Bobby Bass" also continued to produce, write, and remix songs for Fabolous, Monrose, Eva Avila, Ricki-Lee and Jay Sean.
