Dreamcar (stylized as DREAMCAR) is an American new wave supergroup from Los Angeles, California. [3]
When news first broke of Davey Havok working with No Doubt members, many[ who? ] believed he would be replacing Gwen Stefani as the singer of that band. In an interview, Havok clarified that this was not the case. "I'm not singing for No Doubt," he said. He did admit that the band "have a lot of great songs. We have songs that are fully complete. And, it's just a great time. It's really fun. I think people will really like it." [4] Havok also stated the band's overall style has an "'80s vibe". [5]
Speaking to Billboard back in May 2016, drummer Adrian Young said of Dreamcar, "It doesn’t sound like anything, it actually doesn’t sound like AFI or No Doubt. And sometimes I'm not objective enough to really understand it. And I ask my wife or friends, I play them a snippet and I go, 'Does this sound like either one of these bands?' And they’re like, 'No.' And I think that's a good thing." [6]
Tony Kanal was "beyond stoked for people to hear" the debut record from his new project, Dreamcar, which features his No Doubt bandmates, Young and Tom Dumont, as well as AFI frontman Havok. "I can't stop listening to it, so that's always a good sign for me," he said, while noting the band has been in the "final stages" of wrapping up the album. "When I've worked on something that I can't stop listening to—and that I want to get in my car and listen to—it always makes me feel really good. You have this excitement to share it with everybody." Although he's hesitant to give specifics as to what Dreamcar sounds like, he does allow the album is "very inspired by all the '80s stuff that we love. I would definitely say it's a rock record," and says the entire music-making process was very organic and unforced. "There was never really a conversation about what type of music we were making," he says. "We were just making music, and it just worked." [7]
Dreamcar's first single "Kill for Candy" premiered on March 2, 2017. A video for the song was released on April 3, 2017. Their self-titled debut album was released on May 12, 2017. [8]
On May 6, 2023, Dreamcar reunited for a surprise set at the 11th Annual Musack Rock & Roll Carnival in Los Angeles. [9] On April 2, 2024, the band announced the release of the Dream EP, set for release on April 5 of the same year. [1]

AFI is an American rock band from Ukiah, California, formed in 1991. Since 1998, it consists of lead vocalist Davey Havok, drummer and backing vocalist Adam Carson, bassist, backing vocalist and keyboardist Hunter Burgan, and guitarist, backing vocalist and keyboardist Jade Puget. Havok and Carson are the sole remaining original members. Originally a hardcore punk band, they have since delved into many genres, starting with horror punk and following through post-hardcore and emo into alternative rock and gothic rock.
No Doubt is an American rock band from Anaheim, California, formed in 1986. For most of its career, the band has consisted of vocalist and founding member Gwen Stefani, guitarist Tom Dumont, bassist Tony Kanal and drummer Adrian Young. Keyboardist Eric Stefani, Gwen's brother, was also a former member when the band started to release albums in 1992. Since the mid-1990s, trombonist Gabrial McNair and trumpeter Stephen Bradley have performed with the band as session and touring musicians.

Tony Ashwin Kanal is a British-American musician known primarily as a songwriter, record producer and for his work as bassist and co-writer for the rock bands No Doubt and Dreamcar. His career outside of performing includes production and songwriting credits with artists such as Pink, Weezer, Elan Atias and No Doubt lead singer Gwen Stefani's solo work.
Adam Alexander Carson is the drummer of the alternative rock band AFI. He and Davey Havok are the two original members left in the lineup. Carson also filled in as drummer for the psychobilly band Tiger Army. His drumming can be found on Tiger Army's Early Years EP as well as their debut album Tiger Army. Carson was also a member of Influence 13 – a band formed by Nick 13, Jade Puget, Geoff Kresge, and two other friends.

OSLO is an alternative/indie rock band who emerged on the Los Angeles music scene in 2005, consisting of the songwriting trio of Mattia Borrani on lead vocals, Kerry Wayne James on bass, and Gabrial McNair on guitars. Famously, McNair was a touring member of the band No Doubt. They added keyboardist Damon Ramirez, Adrian Young drummer from No Doubt and various drummers before settling on drummer Charlie Walker, who initially left the band in 2008 to live in New York City.
