"Drop" is a single by alternative hip hop group The Pharcyde,released in 1995 as the second single for the group's second album, Labcabincalifornia . The single contains a reversed sample of Dorothy Ashby's recording of "Django",originally by the Modern Jazz Quartet,as well as a vocal sample of the Beastie Boys song "The New Style",using the titular "mmm..... drop" line delivered during a drop to create its hook.
The music video for "Drop" was directed by Spike Jonze and filmed in Los Angeles. The video features Ad-Rock in a cameo and footage of the group performing the song backwards,played in reverse.

The Pharcyde is an American alternative hip hop group,formed in 1989,from South Central Los Angeles. The original four members of the group are Imani,Slimkid3,Bootie Brown,and Fatlip. DJ Mark Luv was the group's first disc jockey (DJ),followed by producer J-Swift. The group is perhaps best known for the hit singles "Drop","Passin' Me By" and "Runnin'",as well as their first album,Bizarre Ride II the Pharcyde (1992). The group continues to tour and record,both collaboratively and in solo projects—the most recent being Hardson's collaborative EP with DJ Nu-Mark released in 2014 on Delicious Vinyl.
"Drop It Like It's Hot" is a song by American rapper Snoop Dogg featuring fellow American musician Pharrell Williams. It was released on September 27,2004,as the lead single from Snoop Dogg's seventh studio album,R&G:The Masterpiece (2005). The song was produced by the Neptunes. It is regarded as an iconic song,with Snoop performing the chorus and the second and third verses while Pharrell performs the first verse.
"Grindin'" is the debut single from Virginia Beach rap duo Clipse. The song was produced by The Neptunes,and featured on the Clipse's debut album,Lord Willin'. The song became a summer Top 40 hit,reaching number 30 on the Billboard Hot 100 on the issue dated August 10,2002.
"Girls,Girls,Girls" is the second single from rapper Jay-Z's album The Blueprint (2001). The single was released on October 2,2001. It is a playful description of the artist's promiscuous lifestyle. The song contains a sample of "There's Nothing In This World That Can Stop Me From Loving You" by Tom Brock,who died a year later. The chorus features a lyrical interpolation of "High Power Rap" by Crash Crew. The song has additional vocals sung by Q-Tip,Slick Rick and Biz Markie,but they are not credited as featured guests on the back artwork;they are,however,credited in the album's liner notes.
"Dead Presidents" is a 1996 song by American rapper Jay-Z. It was released as the first promotional single for Jay-Z's debut album Reasonable Doubt,though it did not directly appear on the album:a different version of the song with the same backing track and chorus but with different lyrics called "Dead Presidents II" appeared on Reasonable Doubt. "Dead Presidents II" was voted number 16 in About.com's Top 100 Rap Songs and number 42 in Rolling Stone's Top 50 Jay-Z Songs.

"We Trying to Stay Alive" is the first single released from Wyclef Jean's debut solo album,The Carnival. The song features raps by John Fortéand Pras and samples the 1977 Bee Gees hit "Stayin' Alive" and Audio Two's "Top Billin'" (1987). The video version also contains an interpolation of the main melody of "Trans-Europe Express" by "Kraftwerk". In the US,it reached number 45 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Additionally,it reached number three on the Hot Rap Songs chart and number 14 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. The track reached number 87 on VH1's "100 Greatest Hip-Hop Songs of All Time".

The song contains two verses by Slimkid3 and Fatlip,Fatlip's verse in particular is highly regarded among fans and critics of the group for its conversational style delivery and easy flowing pace. Both verses address issues of love and relationships. Slimkid3 does his first verse in his trademark incorporation of both singing and rapping. He also sings the ending of the song.
