Dub Side of the Moon is a dub reggae tribute to the 1973 Pink Floyd album, The Dark Side of the Moon , co-produced by Easy Star All-Stars founders Michael G (Michael Goldwasser) and Ticklah (Victor Axelrod). [1] Easy Star All Stars released Dub Side of the Moon: Special Anniversary Edition, on CD and vinyl, on September 16, 2014. [2]

Release details

Included with the liner notes are instructions on how to synchronize the album with the 1939 film The Wizard of Oz and produce a variation of the perceived "Dark Side of the Rainbow" effect. The album has sold over 85,000 copies thus far and Easy Star All-Stars have been regularly touring in support of the album. Artist and Drummer Patrick Dougher performed on the recording but did not tour with the band. [3]

A DVD of a live performance of Dub Side of the Moon was released by the Easy Star label in July 2006.

In 2010 the album was remixed in a bass-heavy dub style and reissued as Dubber Side of the Moon [4] Easy Star All Stars released Dub Side of the Moon: Special Anniversary Edition on September 16, 2014. [2]

Have a Cigar

"Have a Cigar" is the third track on Pink Floyd's 1975 album Wish You Were Here. It follows "Welcome to the Machine" and on the original LP opened side two. In some markets, the song was issued as a single. The song, written by Waters, is his own critique of the music industry at the time, and the hypocrisy of the band's record label to continue releasing more material.

Easy Star All-Stars

Easy Star All-Stars is a reggae collective founded in 1997 by Michael Goldwasser, Eric Smith, Lem Oppenheimer and Remy Gerstein of New York City-based Easy Star Records. The band is known for its reinterpretations of classic albums in reggae style. Their first album, released in 2003, was Dub Side of the Moon, an interpretation of Pink Floyd's 1973 album Dark Side of the Moon. This was followed by Radiodread (2006), an interpretation of Radiohead's 1997 album OK Computer;Easy Star's Lonely Hearts Dub Band (2009), an interpretation the Beatles' 1967 album Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band; and Easy Star's Thrillah (2012), an interpretation of Michael Jackson's 1982 album Thriller.

Dubber Side of the Moon is the second dub reggae tribute to the Pink Floyd album, The Dark Side of the Moon, by New York-based band Easy Star All-Stars. The album features bass-heavy dub remixes by prominent dub producers of its predecessor, Easy Star Records' 2003 release Dub Side of the Moon. Dubber Side of the Moon debuted at #2 on the Billboard Reggae charts.

"On the Run" is the third track from British progressive rock band Pink Floyd's 1973 album, The Dark Side of the Moon. It is an instrumental piece performed on an EMS synthesizer. It deals with the pressures of travel, which, according to Richard Wright, would often bring fear of death.

Easy Star Records

Easy Star Records is an American independent record label founded in 1996. Based in New York City, the label primarily produces and releases albums in the genres of reggae and dub. The label has had multiple albums chart at No. 1 on the Billboard Top Reggae Albums chart, including Easy Star's Lonely Hearts Dub Band, two albums by The Green, and Vines by Passafire, who signed to the label in 2013. In 2014 the label released albums by Rebelution, Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad, Backbeat Soundsystem, New Kingston, and The Expanders, whose June 2015 album Hustling Culture debuted at No. 1 on the Top Reggae Albums chart. Since 2015, the label has released albums by London-based quartet The Skints, Jamaican vocalists Jesse Royal and Protoje, among others. Falling Into Place by Rebelution and A Matter Of Time by Protoje, released via Easy Star Records, each received Grammy Award nominations for Best Reggae Album in 2016 and 2018 respectively. The label also manages bands such as the Easy Star All-Stars, a touring and recording musical collective, and has worked with artists outside the reggae genre such as Citizen Cope, Corey Harris, Janelle Monae, Jason Mraz, Kelly Clarkson, and Yoko Ono.
