Dutch Footballer of the Year

The title Dutch Footballer of the Year (Dutch: Voetballer van het Jaar) has been awarded in the Netherlands since 1984. The award is determined by a poll of Dutch professional footballers playing in the First (Eredivisie) and Second (Eerste Divisie) leagues.

Contents

Until 1997, it was an annual award, afterwards the prize was rewarded at the end of the football season. In 2006, the award merged with the annual prize named Golden Boot (Gouden Schoen), awarded since 1982 by the Dutch daily De Telegraaf and the Dutch football magazine Voetbal International .

Dutch Football Talent of the Year

The title Dutch Football Talent of the Year (Nederlands Voetbal Talent van het Jaar) has been awarded in the Netherlands since 1984 for footballers under 21. The award was replaced by the Johan Cruyff Trophy (Johan Cruijff Prijs) in 2003.

Johannes Gerrit "Johan" Derksen is a Dutch sports journalist and former football player. He played professional football between 1966 and 1978 for six clubs: Go Ahead Eagles, Cambuur, Veendam, HFC Haarlem, SV Meppen and MVV Maastricht. During and after his footballing career, he became a sports journalist, specialising in football. He was the editor-in-chief of Voetbal International, the Netherlands' most prominent football magazine, from 2000 until his retirement in 2013. Jack B. van den Berg is a Dutch football manager and a former player. While coaching ASWH, he won the 2005 national amateur championship and the 2006 Rinus Michels Award for managers in nonprofessional leagues. During a long stint at BVV Barendrecht Van den Berg became a full-time coach. In 2015–2016 he coached the first squads of two small town rivals, promoting both ASWH to the Saturday Derde Divisie and IFC to the Sunday Hoofdklasse. From February until October 2018 he coached VV Katwijk, winning a Tweede Divisie championship.
