In September 2023, it was announced that Scarlett Johansson would make her directorial debut with Eleanor, Invisible from a script by Tory Kamen. [1] Principal photography started in New York in spring 2024. [1]

In February 2024, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Jessica Hecht, and Erin Kellyman joined the cast in undisclosed roles, with TriStar Pictures and Sony Pictures Classics partnering for the first time to distribute the film. [2]
