In academic publishing, a scientific journal is a periodical publication intended to further the progress of science, usually by sharing findings from research with readers. They are normally specialized based on discipline, with authors picking which one they send their manuscripts to.

Saraju Mohanty is an Indian-American professor of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, and the director of the Smart Electronic Systems Laboratory, at the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas. Mohanty received a Glorious India Award – Rich and Famous NRIs of America in 2017 for his contributions to the discipline. Mohanty is a researcher in the areas of "smart electronics for smart cities/villages", "smart healthcare", "application-Specific things for efficient edge computing", and "methodologies for digital and mixed-signal hardware". He has made significant research contributions to security by design (SbD) for electronic systems, hardware-assisted security (HAS) and protection, high-level synthesis of digital signal processing (DSP) hardware, and mixed-signal integrated circuit computer-aided design and electronic design automation. Mohanty has been the editor-in-chief (EiC) of the IEEE Consumer Electronics Magazine during 2016-2021. He has held the Chair of the IEEE Computer Society's Technical Committee on Very Large Scale Integration during 2014-2018. He holds 4 US patents in the areas of his research, and has published 450 research articles and 5 books.
IEEE Access is a peer-reviewed open-access scientific journal published by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). It was established in 2013 and covers all IEEE fields of interest. The founding editor-in-chief was Michael Pecht and the current editor-in-chief is Derek Abbott. The journal won a PROSE Award in 2015 for the best new journal in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
Plamen P. Angelov is a computer scientist. He is a chair professor in Intelligent Systems and Director of Research at the School of Computing and Communications of Lancaster University, Lancaster, United Kingdom. He is founding Director of the Lancaster Intelligent, Robotic and Autonomous systems (LIRA) research centre. Angelov was Vice President of the International Neural Networks Society of which he is now Governor-at-large. He is the founder of the Intelligent Systems Research group and the Data Science group at the School of Computing and Communications. He is member of the Board of Governors also of the Systems, Man and Cybernetics Society of the IEEE for two terms (2015-2017) and (2022-2024). Prof. Angelov was named Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) in 2016 for contributions to neuro-fuzzy and autonomous learning systems. He is also a Fellow of ELLIS and the IET. Dr. Angelov is a founding co-Editor-in-chief of the Evolving Systems journal since 2009 as well as associate editor of the IEEE Transactions on Cybernetics, IEEE Transactions on Fuzzy Systems, IEEE Transactions on AI, Complex and Intelligent Systems and other scientific journals. He is recipient of the 2020 Dennis Gabor Award as well as IEEE and INNS awards for Outstanding Contributions, The Engineer 2008 special award and others. Stepan Lucyszyn FIEEE is a British engineer, inventor and technologist, and has been a Professor of Millimetre-wave Systems at Imperial College London, England, since 2016. He was named a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) in 2014. Lucyszyn's research has mainly focused on monolithic microwave integrated circuits (MMICs), radio frequency microelectromechnical systems, wireless power transfer (WPT), thermal infrared technologies and additive manufacturing.

It was originally established as the Journal of the Society of Telegraph Engineers in 1872, and was known under several titles over the years, such as Journal of the Institution of Electrical Engineers, Proceedings of the IEE and IEE Proceedings.
Md. Azizur (Aziz) Rahman was a Canadian Bangladeshi inventor of modern energy-efficient electric motors that span multiple industry applications. He was an electrical engineer, professor, researcher and scientist. He is internationally recognized as one of the founding innovators of modern power engineering and a pioneer in the development and application of interior permanent magnet motors and associated drive technology-used in the world's first mass-produced hybrid vehicle, the Toyota Prius. Since launching the Prius in 1997, Toyota surpassed global sales of 15 million hybrid vehicles in 2020, all of which use Dr. Rahman's IPM motor drive. His research contributions were broad and adopted in a wide range of electric motor applications ranging from vacuum cleaners, air conditioners, elevators to aircraft.
