Meninges Membranes that envelop the brain and spinal cord

In anatomy, the meninges are the three membranes that envelop the brain and spinal cord. In mammals, the meninges are the dura mater, the arachnoid mater, and the pia mater. Cerebrospinal fluid is located in the subarachnoid space between the arachnoid mater and the pia mater. The primary function of the meninges is to protect the central nervous system.

Arachnoid granulation Protrusions of the arachnoid mater for returning cerebrospinal fluid to circulation

Arachnoid granulations are small protrusions of the arachnoid mater into the outer membrane of the dura mater. They protrude into the dural venous sinuses of the brain, and allow cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) to exit the subarachnoid space and enter the blood stream.

The Subnetwork Access Protocol (SNAP) is a mechanism for multiplexing, on networks using IEEE 802.2 LLC, more protocols than can be distinguished by the 8-bit 802.2 Service Access Point (SAP) fields. SNAP supports identifying protocols by EtherType field values; it also supports vendor-private protocol identifier spaces. It is used with IEEE 802.3, IEEE 802.4, IEEE 802.5, IEEE 802.11 and other IEEE 802 physical network layers, as well as with non-IEEE 802 physical network layers such as FDDI that use 802.2 LLC.

Arachnoid mater Web-like middle layer of the three meninges

The arachnoid mater is one of the three meninges, the protective membranes that cover the brain and spinal cord. The arachnoid mater is a derivative of the neural crest mesectoderm in the embryo.

SubArachnoid Space was a San Francisco, California-based psychedelic rock band founded in 1996 by Mason Jones, the owner of the independent music label Charnel Music. Initially the band was a trio and the debut 7" single release was by the trio. Before the band's first live show, performed at KFJC radio, second guitarist Melynda Jackson joined. That quartet toured for a few years before Michelle moved to Texas and Chris Van Huffle joined as drummer. The role of bassist shifted several times from that point on but the rest of the lineup remained consistent until 2003, when Mason left the group so they could tour more. Shortly thereafter the band's core of Melynda and Chris relocated to Portland Oregon, where they continued to perform, tour and release albums. The band completed a fall tour of the US with the Italian group OVO in September/October 2009 before disbanding on August 13, 2010. This was accompanied by a farewell show at Mississippi studios. Melynda Jackson and Chris Van Huffle went on to form Eight Bells.

Eight Bells (band)

Eight Bells is an American experimental metal band based in Portland, Oregon, United States. It was formed by guitarist Melynda Jackson after SubArachnoid Space disbanded in 2011. She was joined by bassist Haley Westeiner and SubArachnoid Space drummer Christopher Van Huffel. They describe their music as expressionistic experimental metal. Their debut album, The Captain's Daughter, was released 19 February 2013 by Seventh Rule Recordings. The band toured in April 2013 to promote the album. Their follow-up, Landless, was released on February 12, 2016. They toured with Voivod and Vektor in the Northeastern United States in support of the album. In February 2018, Jackson announced a new lineup with Alyssa Maucere on bass, Brian Burke on drums, and Melynda Amann on synth and vocals. The band did a West Coast tour with Subrosa and made an appearance at Psycho Las Vegas. 2019 saw more lineup changes with Alyssa Maucere and Melynda Amann exiting and Matt Solis of Cormorant and URSA taking over on bass and vocals.
