Etighi is a Nigerian dance. The etighi dance was founded by the Akwa Ibom people. The dance requires movement of the leg and the waist. The dance is known across Nigeria and popularly used by the Ibibio and Efik people where its origin began. [1]

The dance has been used in several music videos in Nigeria and across the world. The dance became well known when Iyanya used the dance in his popular music video. [2] [3]

Mavin Records is a Nigerian record label founded by record producer and recording artist Don Jazzy on May 8, 2012. The label's inception came to fruition following the closure of Mo' Hits Records, a record label owned by the aforementioned producer and D'banj. The label is home to recording artists such as Korede Bello, Dr SID, D'Prince, Di'Ja, Johnny Drille, Ladipoe, DNA Twins, Rema and Crayon. It also houses producers such as Jazzy himself, Altims and Baby Fresh. In 2014, DJ Big N became the label's official disc jockey. Tiwa Savage, Wande Coal, Reekado Banks and Iyanya were all formerly signed to the label. On May 8, 2012, the label released its compilation album Solar Plexus. In January 2019, Mavin Records secured a multi-million dollar investment from Kupanda Holdings, a subsidiary of Kupanda Capital and TPG Growth.

Blessed is the third studio album by Nigerian singer Flavour N'abania. It was released on October 18, 2012, by 2nite Entertainment. The album features guest appearances from Wizboyy and Fally Ipupa. Its production was handled by Masterkraft, Wizzboy, Selebobo, MJay, Del B, J Stunt and Dekumzy. The album was supported by the singles "Kwarikwa (Remix)", "Baby Oku", "Shake", "Chinny Baby" and "Ada Ada". Flavour celebrated the album's release at 2nite, a night club he opened in Enugu State. He invited Tiwa Savage, Iyanya, Kcee and Bracket to attend the club's grand opening.

Iyanya Nigerian singer

Iyanya Onoyom Mbuk, known by his stage name Iyanya, is a Nigerian Afropop recording artist and performer. He rose to fame after winning the first season of Project Fame West Africa and is best known for his hit single "Kukere". He co-founded the record label Made Men Music Group with Ubi Franklin in 2011. He released his debut studio album My Story in 2011. It was supported by the singles "No Time" and "Love Truly". Desire, his second studio album, contained five singles: "Kukere", "Ur Waist", "Flavour", "Sexy Mama", and "Jombolo". He won the Artist of the Year award at The Headies 2013. In October 2016, Iyanya announced on Instagram that he signed a record deal with Mavin Records. Few months prior, he signed a management deal with Temple Management Company. He first announced his intentions to leave Made Men Music Group in July 2016.

The album's production was handled by Tee-Y Mix, D'Tunes, Mr. Chidoo, GospelOnDeBeatz and Young D. The album features guest appearances from M.I, Wizkid, D'banj, Emma Nyra, Tiwa Savage, Flavour N'abania, May D, Vector, Tekno and Yung L. It was supported by six singles—"Kukere", "Kukere" (Remix), "Flavour", "Jombolo", "Ur Waist" and "Sexy Mama".

Kukere

"Kukere" is a song by Nigerian singer Iyanya. It was released as the lead single from his second studio album, Desire (2013). Upon its release, the song peaked at number 1 on Top FM's May Chart, Soundcity's Viewers Choice, Rhythm FM, and The Beat 99.9 FM's Blackberry Top Ten Countdown. Moreover, it peaked at number 2 on Radio Port Harcourt. CEO Dancers performed the song during their performance on Britain's Got Talent. To further promote the album in London, Cokobar and Iyanya held the Kukere Queen Competition. Participants of the competition were asked to upload a dance video of themselves and state three reasons why they deserve to win.

Jombolo

"Jombolo" is a song by Nigerian singer Iyanya. It was released as the sixth single from his second studio album, Desire (2013). The song debuted at number one on 360nobs' Top 10 Most Downloaded Songs chart from July 21 through July 27, 2013. It was produced by GospelOnDeBeatz and features vocals from Nigerian singer Flavour N'abania.

"Sexy Mama" is a song recorded by Nigerian recording artist Iyanya featuring Nigerian singer Wizkid for the former's second studio album, Desire (2013). It was issued to digital retailers as the album's fifth single on 6 February 2013, coinciding with the release of the parent album, through his label Made Men Music Group. Written by both of the two musicians, "Sexy Mama" was solely produced by D'Tunes. It is a dancehall and dance-inspired track that contains lyrics pertaining to a man's interest in a girl he met at a club.

Premium Times newspaper ranked "Skelewu" fifth on its list of the top 10 songs of 2013. It gained popularity in Nigeria after Davido announced the Skelewu dance competition. The song was endorsed by African footballers Emmanuel Adebayor and Samuel Eto'o. In September 2016, "Skelewu" appeared on Queen of Katwe's soundtrack album.

<i>Shuga Naija</i>

The third season of the television drama series Shuga, dubbed Shuga Naija, was first broadcast on MTV Base from December 2013 to January 2014. The season was written by Kemi Adesoye and directed by Biyi Bandele. It starred Tiwa Savage, Chris Attoh, Maria Okanrende, Emmanuel Ikubese, Sharon Ezeamaka, Efa Iwara, Dorcas Shola Fapson, Okezie Morro, Timini Egbuson, Kachi Nnochiri, Sanni Mu'azu and Leonora Okine. Shuga Naija is a multimedia campaign which educates youths on HIV, safe sex and teen pregnancy. It also touches on maternal and child health, family planning, gender-based violence, and women empowerment. The television series, which consists of eight episodes, was shot and set in Lagos State, produced in partnership with the National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA).

She is also the founder and owner of Imagneto Dance Company. She is best known for breaking the Guinness World Record for "Longest Dance Party" at the Nokia Silverbird Danceathon in 2006.

Opeyemi Gbenga Kayode, known by his stage name Pepenazi, is a Nigerian singer and songwriter. He made his debut in the Nigerian music industry in 2012 with the single "Arose", produced by Bam Tunes. Its music video contained cameo appearances by Vector, Ice Prince and W4. Pepenazi later took a break from music to complete his undergraduate education and enlist in the army. "Mr Oreo" is a song recorded by Nigerian singer Iyanya. It was released on June 4, 2014, as the second single from Made Men Music Group's compilation album, The Evolution (2014). The song later appeared on Iyanya's third studio album, Applaudise (2015). The song was produced by Selebobo.

Praiz

Praise Ugbede Adejo, better known by his stage name Praiz, is a Nigerian R&B songwriter, producer and singer. Praiz's music career hit the limelight after he finished second runner-up at the maiden season of Project Fame West Africa. He is best known for releasing hit singles like "Rich and Famous", "Sisi" and "I Love You". He contributed guest vocals to Bez's 2011 single "That Stupid Song"; the music video for the aforementioned song went on to be the first African video to make a world premiere on BET’s 106 & Park. He is currently signed to X3M Music.

Afrobeats, also known as Afro-pop, Afro-fusion, is an umbrella term to describe popular music from West Africa and the diaspora that initially developed in Nigeria, Ghana, and the UK in the 2000s and 2010s. Afrobeats is less of a style per se, and more of a descriptor for the fusion of sounds flowing out of Ghana and Nigeria. Genres such as hiplife, jùjú music, highlife and naija beats, among others, were amalgamated under the 'afrobeats' umbrella.
