The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) is a consultative body of the European Union (EU) established in 1958. Its seat, which it shares with the Committee of the Regions, is the Jacques Delors building on Belliardstraat / Rue Belliard 99 in Brussels.

Its members combined represent more than 12 million enterprises, which employ around 50 million people across Europe. SMEunited is a recognised European Social Partner.

A company or "yellow" union is a worker organization which is dominated or unduly influenced by an employer and is therefore not an independent trade union. Company unions are contrary to international labour law. They were outlawed in the United States by the 1935 National Labor Relations Act §8(a)(2), due to their use as agents for interference with independent unions. However, company unions persist in many countries.

The European Federation of Public Service Unions (EPSU) was founded in 1978 and represents eight million public service workers from over 260 trade union organisations. It is affiliated to the European Trade Union Confederation and is the recognised regional organisation of Public Services International. It represents the workers in the energy, water and waste sectors, health and social services and local, regional and central government in all European countries.
