Evolution: The Hits is a compilation album from the British dance/pop band Dead or Alive, in 2003.
Evolution: The Hits is the band's second "greatest hits" collection, after 1987's Rip It Up . This collection spans their musical history from their 1984 debut album, Sophisticated Boom Boom , to 2000's Fragile , and contains all their single releases and several remixes.
The album was released in two editions - a single disc containing 18 tracks, and a double disc 'Collector's Edition', containing 28 tracks. The group's biggest hit, "You Spin Me Round (Like a Record)", was re-released as a single to promote Evolution: The Hits. A video compilation was also released on DVD.

Dead or Alive were an English pop band formed in 1980 in Liverpool. The band found success in the mid-1980s, releasing seven singles that made the UK Top 40 and three albums on the UK Top 30. They were the first band under the production team of Stock Aitken Waterman to have a number-one single. At the peak of their success, the lineup consisted of Pete Burns (vocals), Mike Percy (bass), Steve Coy (drums) and Tim Lever (keyboards).
Youthquake is the second album by the British pop group Dead or Alive, released in May 1985. The album was their commercial breakthrough in Europe and the United States, due to the lead single "You Spin Me Round ", which was a UK number-one hit and a top 20 hit in the United States. Additional single releases from the album included "Lover Come Back To Me", "In Too Deep" and "My Heart Goes Bang ". This was Dead or Alive's first collaboration with the Stock Aitken Waterman production team. Youthquake was re-released in the UK on compact disc in 1994, with the two bonus tracks that were previously included on the original CD and cassette versions of the album.
Sophisticated Boom Boom is the debut album by the British pop group Dead or Alive, released in 1984 on Epic Records. Featuring mostly synth-pop and dance elements, the album contains the band's first UK Top 40 single, a cover version of KC & the Sunshine Band's "That's the Way ". That song, along with "Misty Circles", were hits on the U.S. Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart. The album was a minor success in the UK where it peaked at No. 29.
Mad, Bad, and Dangerous to Know is the third studio album by British pop band Dead or Alive, released on 21 November 1986 on Epic Records. Continuing their association with the Stock Aitken Waterman production team, Dead or Alive scored several hit singles from this album, including "Brand New Lover", "Something in My House", "Hooked on Love" and "I'll Save You All My Kisses".
"You Spin Me Round " is a song by British band Dead or Alive on their 1985 album Youthquake. Released as a single in 1984, it reached No. 1 in the UK in March 1985, taking 17 weeks to get there. It was the first UK No. 1 hit by the Stock Aitken Waterman production trio. On the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, it peaked at No. 11 on 17 August of that year. In 2003, Q ranked the song at number 981 in their list of the "1001 Best Songs Ever", Blender listed it at number 289 on its ranking of "Greatest Songs Since You Were Born" in 2005 and in 2015, it was voted by the British public as the nation's 17th favourite 1980s number one in a poll for ITV. Musician and actor Gary Kemp described the song as "one of the best white dance records of all time."
Carl E. "Chucky" Thompson is a hip hop and R&B record producer. Thompson was a member of Bad Boy Entertainment's "Hitmen" team of in-house producers during the 1990s, and worked with Bad Boy mogul Sean Combs on material for artists such as The Notorious B.I.G. and Faith Evans.
Rip It Up is a greatest hits album released by Dead or Alive in 1987 on Epic Records. It contains eight singles from their two prior albums, Youthquake and Mad, Bad, and Dangerous to Know, segued together much like a DJ-mix. No new songs were included on this album, although the versions present here are alternate versions that were created by editing different 12" mixes together, creating unique track lengths and sounds.
Nukleopatra is the sixth and penultimate studio album from British synth-pop band Dead or Alive. Still a massive success in Japan, Epic Records released Nukleopatra there in 1995. Left without a record contract in the UK and the US, this album did not get released in other territories until years later. Nukleopatra was eventually issued on several different labels, with varying track listings, timings and album artwork.
Unbreakable: The Fragile Remixes is an album released by British band Dead or Alive in 2001 which served as a companion piece to their 2000 album Fragile. Unbreakable contains ten tracks which are remixes of Fragile songs. This record has only been released in Japan from Avex Trax. The album remained an exclusive in this territory until the worldwide release of the Sophisticated Boom Box MMXVI compilation box set in 2016.
Fragile is the seventh and final album released by British band Dead or Alive in 2000. Like their album Fan the Flame , this album has only seen a release in Japan from Japanese big independent record company Avex Trax, where the band was very popular. Containing a total of thirteen tracks, the album contains some new material as well as re-recordings and remixes of past hits. Also included is a remake of U2's song "Even Better Than the Real Thing", which had previously appeared on a U2 tribute album. The album remained an exclusive in this territory until the worldwide release of the Sophisticated Boom Box MMXVI compilation box set in 2016.
