The Fenix Trophy is an annual European football competition between semi-professional and amateur clubs. It was founded in 2021 by the Italian football club Brera Calcio. The competition is officially recognized by UEFA. [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] [7]

The word FENIX is an acronym and stands for Friendly – European – Non professional – Innovative – Xenial (From the ancient Greek xenos, the word examined for an attitude of resistance to strangers, with maintaining mutual respect for cultural differences).

Season 2021–22

The first tournament was held during the 2021–22 season. There were 2 pools with 4 teams each. Afterwards, the clubs played against each other in Rimini, Italy, according to their final position.

Prague Raptors and FC United of Manchester winners of their group played the final on June 11, 2022 in the Stadio Romeo Neri, which was won by Manchester 0–2.

Season 2022–23

For the 2022–23 season, 3 groups of 3 teams each were formed. The winners of the pools and the best 2nd took part in the Final 4 in Milan.

The following teams took part in the second season:

At the end of the season, FC United of Manchester, BK Skjold, Prague Raptors (who all won their groups) and Brera Calcio (which was also selected as the best 2nd in the groups) played the Final 4. These were played on June 7, 2023 in the Arena Civica, BK Skjold won 3–2 against FC United of Manchester and Prague Raptors FC won 1–0 against Brera FC. The final was played on Thursday, June 8, 2023 in the iconic San Siro, where BK Skjold was 3–0 too strong for Prague Raptors FC.

Season 2023–24

The following teams took part in the third season:

At the end of the season, FC United of Manchester, Lewes FC, Prague Raptors and Enfield Town FC played the Final 4. These were played on May 10-12, 2024 in Desenzano del Garda. FC United of Manchester beat Lewes FC 1-0 in one semi-final, whilst Prague Raptors beat Enfield Town FC on penalties in the other. FC United of Manchester won the final 4-0.

The 1970–71 season was the 68th season of competitive football in Belgium. Standard Club Liégeois won their 6th Division I title. RFC Brugeois reached the quarter-finals of the 1970–71 European Cup Winners' Cup. K Beerschot VAV won the Belgian Cup final against K Sint-Truidense VV. The Belgium national football team started their UEFA Euro 1972 qualifying campaign as they were drawn in Group 5 with Portugal, Scotland and Denmark. They won all of their first 4 games and finished the season at the top of Group 5, 2 points ahead of Portugal with 2 matches to go.

The 1971–72 season was the 69th season of competitive football in Belgium. RSC Anderlechtois won their 15th Division I title and made the double by beating Standard Club Liégeois in the Belgian Cup final (1-0). Standard Club Liégeois reached the quarter-finals of the 1971–72 European Champion Clubs' Cup and K Lierse SK the quarter-finals of the first ever UEFA Cup. The Belgium national football team qualified for the first time for the European Championship finals, by finishing first of their group and by beating Italy in the second qualifying round. Belgium was subsequently chosen to host the finals, of which they finished 3rd. For the first time, a Belgian Women's First Division championship was played, won by Astrio Begijnendijk.

The 2023–24 edition of the FENIX Trophy, a continental European tournament consisting solely of non-professional European teams, was the third edition of the tournament. The tournament was held from 24 October 2023 to 12 May 2024. The UEFA-sanctioned competition consisted of 12 teams split into four groups of three. The four group winners qualified for the knockout stage which was held at Tre Stelle-Francesco Ghizzi, in Desenzano del Garda, Italy in May 2024.
