The FIVB Beach Volleyball U21 World Championship is a double-gender international beach volleyball tournament for athletes under the age of 21. The competition first took place in Le Lavandou, France in 2001. [1]

The Fédération Internationale de Volleyball, commonly known by the acronym FIVB, is the international governing body for all forms of volleyball. Its headquarters are located in Lausanne, Switzerland, and its current president is Ary Graça of Brazil.
The Asian Volleyball Confederation, commonly known by the acronym AVC, is the continental governing body for the sports of indoor, beach, and grass volleyball in Asia and Oceania. It has 65 member associations, located in the Asia-Pacific region, but excludes four transcontinental countries with territory in both Asia and Europe – Azerbaijan, Georgia, Russia, and Türkiye – along with Armenia, Cyprus, and Israel, which are members of the CEV.

Professor Dr. George Giatsis is a distinguished academic researcher and a Greek volleyball and beach volleyball coach. His coaching expertise has resulted in numerous athletes under his guidance winning beach volleyball championships in Greece. With a doctorate in the kinesiology of volleyball and beach volleyball, Professor Giatsis is recognized for his expertise in biomechanical analysis. The title of his doctoral thesis is "Biomechanical differences in elite beach-volleyball players in vertical jumps on rigid and sand surfaces," showcasing his commitment to advancing the understanding of athletic performance in these sports. His expertise extends to various aspects of kinesiology and performance in volleyball, beach volleyball, and vertical jumps. Notably, he is recognized as an expert in the kinesiology of the arm swing technique in spike attacks in both volleyball and beach volleyball. Dr. Giatsis has contributed significantly to the field with a number of scientific articles addressing kinesiology and performance in volleyball, beach volleyball, and vertical jumps. His research on arm swing techniques has led to the categorization of various styles, including bow and arrow low and high, circular limited and extended, and snap and straight. In addition to his coaching and research roles, Dr. Giatsis is an FIVB instructor in both volleyball and beach volleyball. As a former player, Dr. Giatsis played more than 200 tournaments in Greece and internationally. In 1998, he took ninth place in CEV finals at the European Championship in Rhodes. He also took 2nd place in Doha, Qatar in 2002.

Melissa Humana-Paredes is a Canadian beach volleyball player, who is partnered with Brandie Wilkerson. Humana-Paredes won the women's gold medal with Sarah Pavan at the 2019 Beach Volleyball World Championships.
Megan Norma McNamara is a Canadian beach volleyball player. Along with her twin sister, Nicole McNamara, Megan has competed in many beach volleyball events around the world. From the fall of 2015 until the spring of 2019, Megan competed collegiately for the UCLA Bruins, leading the team to its first Pac-12 and NCAA titles in the sport during the 2018 season, and a second NCAA championship in the 2019 season.

Nina Betschart is a Swiss professional beach volleyball player who plays as a right side defender with her partner Tanja Hüberli. She is a two-time European Champion, winning the title in 2021 and 2023, and the silver medallist at the 2018 and 2022 European Championships. With her former partner Nicole Eiholzer, she won the gold medal at the first ever European Games in 2015. Alongside Hüberli, Betschart has won combined total of 1 gold, 3 silver and 6 bronze medals on FIVB World Tour and its successor Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour. Betschart / Hüberli team represented Switzerland at the 2020 Summer Olympics where they finished in ninth place and played a pivotal role at their country's triumph in the women's event of the inaugural CEV Beach Volleyball Nations Cup in 2022. They achieved a career-high World ranking of No. 2 in November 2021.

Hannes Jagerhofer is an Austrian entrepreneur, marketing and PR manager, event expert and author. The ACTS Group, founded by him, is one of the most renowned event and communication agencies in Austria. While at the ACTS Group Hannes Jagerhofer founded the Beach Majors GmbH, which was organizing the Beach Volleyball Major Series from 2015 to 2020 together with Red Bull. The Beach Volleyball Major Series was a sports series with the tournaments providing the highest prize money and ranking points of the FIVB World Tour.

Katharina Elisabeth Schützenhöfer is an Austrian professional beach volleyball player who plays as a right-side defender with her partner Lena Plesiutschnig. She won the silver medal at the first ever European Games in 2015. Her first and only FIVB World Tour victory so far, came at a 3-star event in Mersin in 2018. She won a silver medal at the 2011 U19 World Championship and a bronze medal at the 2013 U21 World Championship, both competitions were held in Umag. She is also the 2011 U20 European Champion with Plesiutschnig.

She and her partner Sara Hughes won the bronze medal at the 2013 U19 World Championships, the silver medal at the 2014 U21 World Championships, the gold medal at the 2023 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships and back-to-back NCAA Championships in 2016 and 2017.
