Operación Triunfo is a reality television talent show which first aired on Spain's TVE network in 2001. A music talent contest with viewer voting and reality show elements that originated Endemol's Star Academy franchise, the show aims to find the country's next solo singing sensation.
D'ZRT was a Portuguese boy band consisting of Paulo Vintém, Angélico Vieira, Vítor Fonseca and Edmundo Vieira. The band was created when Portuguese television channel TVI cast a band for their series Morangos com Açucar. The four members portrayed Topê, David, Zé Milho and Ruca. Portugal participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2003 with the song "Deixa-me sonhar " written by Paulo Martins. The song was performed by Rita Guerra, who was internally selected by the Portuguese broadcaster Rádio e Televisão de Portugal (RTP) on 9 January 2003 to represent the nation at the 2003 contest in Riga, Latvia. RTP returned to the Eurovision Song Contest after a one-year absence following their withdrawal in 2002 as one of the bottom six countries in the 2001 contest. The national final Canção para Eurovisão 2003 was organised on 2 March 2003 in order to select the song that Rita Guerra would perform, where "Deixa-me sonhar " emerged as the winning song after gaining 75% of the public televote.

The competition consisted of two shows on 18 and 25 January 2004 where "Foi magia" performed by Sofia Vitória emerged as the winner after gaining 38.32% of the public televote.
Luísa Vilar Braamcamp SobralComM is a Portuguese singer and songwriter. She came to prominence in 2003 after finishing third in the first season of Ídolos, the Portuguese version of Idols television series. After going on hiatus to attend the Berklee College of Music, she released her debut album, The Cherry on My Cake, in 2011. She later composed "Amar pelos dois", which was performed by her brother Salvador Sobral and won the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 for Portugal.
Sílvia Alberto is a Portuguese television presenter and actress, currently employed by Rádio e Televisão de Portugal. She began her career in 2000, presenting Clube Disney on RTP1.
Isaura Santos is a Portuguese singer and songwriter. She composed the song "O jardim", performed by Cláudia Pascoal, that represented Portugal at the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 in Lisbon. Automatically qualified to the final, due to Portugal's first victory in the contest the year before, the song ended up in the last position.
