First Picture (2006) is a documentary film by Akram Al-Ashqar. [1] It was shown at the Copenhagen International Film Festival on 15 November 2007, [2] It follows the story of a Palestinian child from Tulkarm Camp for the Palestinian refugees. [3] Born in one of the Israeli prisons, he spent more than two and a half years there. Then, he was separated from his mother who is still remaining arrested in prison by the Israeli Authorities, the moment when the child starts an adventure of discovering the natural life under the protection of his father and family and the companions of the released prisoner mates of his mother, being still very affected by the memories of his experience in prison. The murder of Shalhevet Pass was a shooting attack carried out in Hebron, West Bank, on 26 March 2001, in which a Palestinian sniper killed 10-month-old Israeli infant Shalhevet Pass. The event shocked the Israeli public, partly because an investigation ruled that the sniper had deliberately aimed for the baby. According to Deborah Sontag of the New York Times, the murder became a "potent Israeli symbol as an innocent victim of the raging violence."

The series was broadcast by the Hamas-affiliated television station Al-Aqsa TV from April 13, 2007 to October 16, 2009, and featured young host Saraa Barhoum and her co-host Farfour, a large Mickey Mouse-like costumed character, performing skits and discussing life in Palestine in a talk show fashion with call-ins from children. Presented in a children's educational format similar to such other preschool shows as Sesame Street or Barney & Friends, Tomorrow's Pioneers is highly controversial as it contains antisemitism, Islamism, anti-Americanism, and other anti-Western themes.
Faris Odeh was a Palestinian boy from the Israeli-occupied Gaza Strip who became known as a popular symbol for Palestinian resistance because of a photograph where he is seen throwing a stone at an Israeli tank during the Second Intifada. In November 2000, he was killed by Israeli troops near the Karni Crossing while he was throwing stones at them.
