Florida State University is a public research university in Tallahassee, Florida, United States. It is a senior member of the State University System of Florida. Chartered in 1851, it is located on Florida's oldest continuous site of higher education.
Jack William Nicklaus, nicknamed "the Golden Bear", is a retired American professional golfer and golf course designer. He is widely considered to be either the greatest or one of the greatest golfers of all time. He won 117 professional tournaments in his career. Over a quarter-century, he won a record 18 major championships, three more than second-placed Tiger Woods. Nicklaus focused on the major championships—the Masters Tournament, U.S. Open, Open Championship and PGA Championship—and played a selective schedule of regular PGA Tour events. He competed in 164 major tournaments, more than any other player, and finished with 73 PGA Tour victories, third behind Sam Snead (82) and Woods (82).
The Florida State Seminoles are the athletic teams representing Florida State University located in Tallahassee, Florida. They compete as a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I level, primarily competing in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) for all sports since the 1991–92 season; within the Atlantic Division in any sports split into a divisional format since the 2005–06 season.
The Memorial Tournament is a PGA Tour golf tournament founded in 1976 by Jack Nicklaus. It is played on a Nicklaus-designed course at Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin, Ohio, a suburb north of Columbus. The golf course passes through a large neighborhood called Muirfield Village, which includes a 1999 bronze sculpture of Nicklaus mentoring a young golfer located in the wide median of Muirfield Drive.

The FSU Southwest Campus (SWC) of Florida State University (FSU) is located in Tallahassee about a mile to the southwest of the Main Campus on approximately 740 acres (3.0 km2) remaining out of a large parcel often called "The Farm", a nickname derived from a dairy farm that once operated on the site. Over the years portions of The Farm have been converted to other uses, such as housing, research, golf, mass media and academics.
The Seminole Legacy Golf Club is located in Tallahassee, Florida and is the home of the Florida State Seminoles men's golf and Florida State Seminoles women's golf teams. It was constructed in 1962 by the architect Bill Amick. Bob Walker renovated the course to a 7,147-yard (6,535 m) par 73 course. In 2020 the course opened after a 10 million dollar renovation designed by famed Nicklaus Design Company. Course was renovated into a 7,240 yard par 72 course.
Brooks Koepka is an American professional golfer. Early in his professional career, Koepka failed to earn entry into the PGA Tour and turned to Europe. Koepka had immediate success in Europe, winning three times on the 2013 Challenge Tour earning him a promotion to the European Tour. In 2014, Koepka won the Turkish Airlines Open and won the Rookie of the Year honors. In 2015, Koepka played his inaugural season on the PGA Tour, winning the Phoenix Open. In 2017, Koepka won the U.S. Open precipitating on one of the greatest winning streaks in the history of the major championships, winning four majors over the course of a two-year timespan. In 2022, Koepka joined LIV Golf where he has continued with much success, winning four tournaments.
The Illinois Fighting Illini men's golf team represents the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign in the sport of golf. The Fighting Illini compete in Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the Big Ten Conference. They play their home matches at the Atkins Golf Club, which is located five miles from the university's campus. The Fighting Illini are currently led by head coach Mike Small. The Fighting Illini men's golf program has won 20 Big Ten championships, including the last eight consecutively, and in 2013 finished as national runner-up at the NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championships, which was the highest finish in the program's history. The Fighting Illini have qualified for the match play portion of the NCAA Championship 9 times since the stroke play/match play format was introduced in 2009, and reached the Final Four in 2013, 2015, 2016 and 2017.
Daniel F. Berger is an American professional golfer who plays on the PGA Tour. After turning pro at age 20 in 2013, he won the FedEx St. Jude Classic in both 2016 and 2017 and the Charles Schwab Challenge in 2020, the first PGA Tour tournament played after a three-month hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In February 2021, he won the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am; clinching victory with an eagle on the 18th hole.

The 1987 Tournament Players Championship was a golf tournament in Florida on the PGA Tour, held March 26–29 at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, southeast of Jacksonville. It was the fourteenth Tournament Players Championship.
