The Fujifilm X-mount is a lens mount for Fujifilm interchangeable lens mirrorless cameras in its X-series, designed for 23.6mm x 15.6mm APS-C sensors.

Contents

Various lens manufacturers use this mount, such as Fujifilm's own XF and XC lenses, Carl Zeiss AG (Touit lenses), Samyang Optics, Handevision, SLR Magic, Viltrox and Zhongyi Optics. Additionally, a host of adapters for a range of SLR lenses are available, allowing the mounting of lenses (without autofocus or auto aperture) from Canon, Nikon, Pentax, Minolta, Contax/Yashica, Konica and more. This mount type should not be confused with the discontinued Fujica X-mount, which is not compatible with the newer X-mount without an adapter. [1]

Fujifilm X-Mount cameras

Fujifilm has released the following cameras that use the X-mount:

Short back focusing distance

By reducing the distance between the rear lens element and the sensor, a more compact construction is possible.

Third Party Lenses

Until 2018, all third party lenses were manual except from the three Zeiss Touit lenses. In 2019, Viltrox introduced a 85 mm f/1.8 AF lens lacking an aperture ring. [37] In April 2020, the same company introduced a 33 mm f/1.4 lens with an aperture ring. Two more Viltrox lenses, 23 mm f/1.4 and 56 mm f/1.4, are announced for 2020. [38] On March 6, 2020, Tokina announced three atx-m autofocus lenses for Fujifilm X-mount to be introduced in autumn 2020. [39] [40] Toshihisa Iida, the General Manager of Fujifilm's Optical Device and Electronic Imaging Products Division, explained on April 14, 2020, that Fuji followed plans on opening the X-mount up to third-party lens manufacturers. The manufacturer Kenko Tokina was mentioned in this interview. [41]

Autofocus lenses

Carl Zeiss lenses

The Touit line of compact lenses from Carl Zeiss AG is purposely designed for APS-C like camera bodies. The optics of these lenses are designed by Carl Zeiss, but the design for manufacturing is done by the Japanese manufacturer Cosina. The Touit lenses are produced for a Fujifilm X-mount and Sony E-mount. [42] Because Fujifilm did not share the specifications of the X-mount, Carl Zeiss never received officially the license for releasing X-mount lenses. The Touit lenses are therefore non-certified. [43]

Samyang lenses

Lenses are sold under the interchangeable Samyang, Rokinon, Walimex, and Bower brand names.

Fujinon is a brand of optical lenses made by Fuji Photo Film Co., Ltd, now known as Fujifilm. Fujifilm's Fujinon lenses have been used by professional photographers and broadcast stations as well as cinematography. Fujifilm started manufacture of optical glass in its Odawara Factory in Japan in 1940, which was the start of the Fujinon brand. They were proud of their use of expensive Platinum crucibles to get the purest glass achievable at the time. Fujifilm also pioneered Electron Beam Coating (EBC) which according to Fujifilm, represented a new high in lens precision and performance. The EBC process was significantly different from other coating processes by the number of coating, the thinness of the coating, and the materials used for coating. Fujifilm claimed they were able to have as many as 14 layers of coating and used materials such as zirconium oxide, and cerium fluoride, which could not be used for coating in the conventional coating process. The first lens to offer the Electron Beam Coating was the EBC Fujinon 55mm F3.5 Macro in 1972. Light transmission for the coating was said to be 99.8%. EBC later evolved into Super-EBC and HT-EBC.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Pentax K-mount</span> Series of camera lens mounts made by Pentax

The Pentax K-mount, sometimes referred to as the "PK-mount", is a bayonet lens mount standard for mounting interchangeable photographic lenses to 35 mm single-lens reflex (SLR) cameras. It was created by Pentax in 1975, and has since been used by all Pentax 35 mm and digital SLRs and also the MILC Pentax K-01. A number of other manufacturers have also produced many K-mount lenses and K-mount cameras.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Lens speed</span>

Lens speed is the maximum aperture diameter, or minimum f-number, of a photographic lens. A lens with a larger than average maximum aperture is called a "fast lens" because it can achieve the same exposure as an average lens with a faster shutter speed. Conversely, a smaller maximum aperture is "slow" because it delivers less light intensity and requires a slower (longer) shutter speed.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Minolta STF 135mm f/2.8 T4.5</span>

Originally produced by Minolta, and currently produced by Sony, the STF 135mm f/2.8 [T4.5] is a photographic lens compatible with cameras using the Minolta AF and Sony α A-mount. STF stands for Smooth Trans Focus, in reference to its special optical system, which is intended to smooth the transition between the plane of focus and out-of-focus areas in the image. This is accomplished by the use of an apodization filter that provides the high-quality bokeh effect. The lens is not a soft-focus lens.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Pentax (lens)</span>

Pentax lenses were first badged as Takumar. The Takumar branded lenses were well respected for their line of Super Takumar, which designated the high performance coating applied to the lens as well as the optical formulas used to make them. The majority of the industry at the time was still satisfied with the variations of the "plumb" coating process and later some of the two and three layer processes as well. Asahi Pentax soon introduced the Takumar Super-Multi-Coated line of lenses which was a 7 layer process as the industry had just caught up with similar forms of 5 layer multi-coated optics. Eventually Asahi Optical and Pentax slowly shifted much of their lens production under the Pentax name and transitioned some of the successful designs that were first introduced under the Takumar name to use Asahi/Pentax badging as well as beginning to use the "smc" abbreviation. Eventually the Asahi partnership disappeared and the Pentax name became solely used. Pentax lenses saw many feature changes to answer the market, such as: incorporating "Auto-Aperture" with the M42, the light weight and compactness with the 'M' series, Aperture Priority overrides with the 'A' series, and Auto-Focus with the 'F' series. Modern Pentax lenses for digital SLR cameras have seen the elimination of the aperture ring completely as found on Pentax DA and D-FA series lenses. They use the Pentax KAF mount. All of these lenses have an autofocus feature, either operated from the camera body or from an internal SDM motor. Pentax compatible lenses are also made by third-party companies.

The Fujica X-mount was a lens mount created by Fujifilm in the late 1970s and early 1980s for the new Fujica SLR lineup: AX-1, AX-3, AX-5, AX Multi, STX-1, STX-1N, STX-2, MPF105X, MPF105XN. It replaced the M42 screw mount used on their earlier SLRs.

The Samsung NX-mount is the lens mount used on NX series mirrorless interchangeable lens cameras by Samsung. The mount was first implemented in the Samsung NX10, and Samsung initially referred to the NX line as 'hybrid digital cameras', citing their combination of attributes of both DSLR and compact cameras.
