Gary Lamont is a Scottish actor, best known for his role as hairdresser Robbie Fraser in the soap opera River City , a role which he played from 2009 to 2017.
Lamont grew up in the Castlemilk area of Glasgow. [1] He attended the RSAMD in Glasgow. [2] As well as his popular role on River City , he appeared in the French war drama Joyeux Noël , Edinburgh crime drama Rebus and comedy Still Game as a barrister. [3]
After leaving River City, he trained to be a funeral celebrant as a sideline and made it the subject of his 2019 Edinburgh Fringe show. Lamont appeared in the 2022 Netflix film Boiling Point alongside Stephen Graham, as well as its 2023 television continuation. [4] [5]

River City is a Scottish television soap opera created by Stephen Greenhorn which has been broadcast on BBC One Scotland since 24 September 2002. Since 2019, the show has aired episodes a day earlier on the new BBC Scotland channel. Set in the fictional district of Shieldinch in the west end of Glasgow, River City follows the lives of the local residents and their families as they go about their day-to-day lives. From its inception in 2002, the soap struggled to grasp viewers' approval, but would gradually see a rise in popularity. Boiling Point is a 2021 British drama film directed by Philip Barantini and written by Barantini and James Cummings, based on a 2019 short film of the same name. It stars Stephen Graham, Vinette Robinson, Ray Panthaki, and Hannah Walters. It is a one-shot film set in a restaurant kitchen. It is an expansion of a 2019 short film of the same name, also directed by Barantini and starring Graham. It was originally planned to record eight takes of the film, but it was only possible to film half of these before a COVID-19 lockdown led to the end of the shoot.
