Gender sensitization is the process teaching of gender sensitivity and encouragement of behavior modification through raising awareness of gender equality concerns. [1] In other words, it is the process of making people aware of gender equality or the lack of to the need to eliminate gender discrimination. It involves understanding and challenging the existing gender roles, stereotypes, and biases that are prevalent in society. Gender sensitization aims to create a more equal and just society where individuals are not discriminated against based on their gender.

The goal of gender sensitization is to address issues in gender equality and encourage participants to pursue solutions. [2] This can be achieved by conducting various sensitization campaigns, training center's, workshops, programs, etc. In the domain of Humanities and Social Sciences, sensitization is seen as an awareness-informed propensity or disposition which aims at changing behavior so that it is sensitive to certain issues. Gender sensitization may be seen as "the awareness informed propensity to behave in a manner which is sensitive to gender justice and gender equality issues." [1]

It is interlinked with gender empowerment. [3] Gender sensitization theories claim that modification of the behavior of teachers and parents (etc.) towards children which can have a causal effect on gender equality. [4] [5] This is because gender identity and gender roles begin to develop in children at the age of 2-3 years old. [6]

Gender sensitizing "is about changing behavior and instilling empathy into the views that we hold about our own and the other genders." [7] It helps people in "examining their personal attitudes and beliefs and questioning the 'realities' they thought they know.

Gender sensitization can be achieved through various means, including education, training, and awareness-raising campaigns. [8] It can be integrated into school curricula, workplace policies, and community programs. The aim is to create a culture where individuals are aware of gender issues and actively work towards gender equality.[ citation needed ]

Overall, gender sensitization is an essential aspect of creating a more equal and just society, where individuals are not discriminated against based on their gender. It is crucial to promote gender equality and challenge gender stereotypes and biases to create a world where all individuals have equal opportunities to succeed. [9] [10]

Feminist Digital Humanities has risen partly because of recent criticism of the propensity of Digital Humanities to further patriarchal or hegemonic discourses in the Academy. There is a great deal of research on the factors that lead to the formation of prejudiced attitudes and beliefs. There is also a lot of research on the consequences of holding prejudiced beliefs and being the target of such beliefs. It is true that advances have been made in understanding the nature of prejudice. A consensus on how to end prejudice has yet to be established, but there are a number of scientifically examined strategies that have been developed in attempt to solve this social issue.

Gender inequality in curriculum exposes indications that female and male learners are not treated equally in various types of curriculum. There are two types of curricula: formal and informal. Informal curricula, also defined as hidden or unofficial, refer to attitudes, values, beliefs, assumptions, behaviours and undeclared agendas underlying the learning process. These are formulated by individuals, families, societies, religions, cultures and traditions.

Implicit bias training programs are designed to help individuals become aware of their implicit biases and equip them with tools and strategies to act objectively, limiting the influence of their implicit biases. Some researchers say implicit biases are learned stereotypes that are automatic, seemingly associative, unintentional, deeply ingrained, universal, and can influence behavior.

Foreign aid for gender equality in Jordan includes programs funded by governments or non-governmental organizations (NGOs) that aim to empower women, close gender based gaps in opportunity and experience, and promote equal access to education, economic empowerment, and political representation in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

Diversity ideology refers to individual beliefs regarding the nature of intergroup relations and how to improve them in culturally diverse societies. A large amount of scientific literature in social psychology studies diversity ideologies as prejudice reduction strategies, most commonly in the context of racial groups and interracial interactions. In research studies on the effects of diversity ideology, social psychologists have either examined endorsement of a diversity ideology as individual difference or used situational priming designs to activate the mindset of a particular diversity ideology. It is consistently shown that diversity ideologies influence how individuals perceive, judge and treat cultural outgroup members. Different diversity ideologies are associated with distinct effects on intergroup relations, such as stereotyping and prejudice, intergroup equality, and intergroup interactions from the perspectives of both majority and minority group members. Beyond intergroup consequences, diversity ideology also has implications on individual outcomes, such as whether people are open to cultural fusion and foreign ideas, which in turn predict creativity.

Gender sensitivity is the process by which people are made aware of how gender plays a role in life through their treatment of others. Gender relations are present in all institutions worldwide and gender sensitivity especially manifests in recognizing privilege and discrimination around gender; women are generally seen as disadvantaged in society. Major strides in international gender sensitivity awareness have been made in recent years, which is helping to improve living and working conditions for members of all gender groups, as well as more effective medical care. Gender sensitivity trainings are used to educate people, usually employees, to become more aware of and sensitive to gender in their lives or workplaces. This type of training is becoming more popular in the United States, particularly in areas of the service industry, such as healthcare and education.
