General Aung San Shield (formerly MFF Cup) is the top football knockout tournament in Myanmar.

On 26 March 2014, MFF League Committee Meeting decides the knock-out cup (General Aung San Shield) winner would compete in Toyota Mekong Championship as well as earning the ticket for the AFC Cup. [1] The tournament is currently sponsored by Military of Defence. Ayeyawady United are the most successful team after winning the tournament for the two consecutive times in 2012 and 2014. General Aung San Shield is a domestic cup of Myanmar Football Federation. Clubs from Myanmar National League 1 and all teams from Myanmar National League 2 take part in the competition. 2015 was the first season of the competition. Ten clubs from Myanmar National League 2 and two clubs from Myanmar National League plays from the first round of the competition and the 16 teams will play the second round. The winner played for the Quarter final. In the semi-final the teams are played home and away. The final will always be played at the Bogyoke Aung San Stadium. The winner is qualified for the AFC Cup. Except the Semi-Final the cup matches are played in Thuwanna Indoor Stadium and Aung San Stadium. The Champion will be awarded 300 000 000 Myanmar Kyats and the runner up will be awarded 150 million Myanmar kyats.

At an emergency meeting of the MNL committee on September 12, Nay Pyi Taw was expelled from the league after its players complained of not having been paid since April. The expulsion came after players boycotted a game in early September. An unsuccessful coup attempt in Turkey in July last year created a crisis for City Yangon that forced its departure from the MNL. It was a big disappointment for the club, which won the 2017 MNL-2 championship to end the season undefeated. MNL-2 third-place winners Myawady FC were promoted along with runners-up Sagaing United to the 2018 Myanmar National League.

The 2018 National League 2, also known as the 2018 MPT Myanmar National League 2, is the sixth season of the MNL-2, the second division league for association football clubs since its founding in 2012. At the end of the 2017 MNL-2, City Yangon F.C. won the MNL-2 title. And then, City Yangon F.C. and Sagaing United promoted to 2018 Myanmar National League. But City Yangon F.C. quit from Myanmar National League. So, Myawady FC auto promoted to 2018 Myanmar National League. City Yangon F.C. and Chin United F.C. abandoned their clubs. In 2018 National League 2, there is only seven will play for MNL-2 winner.

The 2018 General Aung San Shield was the fourth season of Myanmar knockout football competition. The tournament is organized by the Myanmar Football Federation. It is the league cup competition started in 2018 Myanmar football season. This cup succeeded the Myanmar Football Federation Cup. MFF has changed the cup competition style as follows.

The 2019 season is Yangon United's 10th season in the Myanmar National League since 2009.

The 2019 MFF Charity Cup is the 8th Charity Cup, an annual football match played between the winners of the previous National League and Domestic Cup competitions. It was held at Aung San Stadium on 6 January 2018. The match was played between Yangon United, champions of the 2018 Myanmar National League and Shan United, runner-up of the 2018 Myanmar National League.
