Georgiou Group (Georgiou) is a building construction and civil engineering with offices throughout Australia. Georgiou provides a diverse range of construction services to government and private clients. [1] In the 2023 financial year, the Company announced a revenue of $1.041 billion, with more than $1.6 billion in current work in hand. [2]

History

Georgiou was founded by Spiro (Peter) Georgiou in 1977 as Direct Drainage in Perth, Western Australia. In 1996, the Company acquired Roadpave and Geocrete, and became Georgiou Group Pty Ltd. [3] [4]

John Georgiou, the son of Spiro Georgiou, became Chief Executive Officer of the Company in 1998, following Spiro Georgiou's transition to Georgiou's Board of Directors. [3] [5]

The Company expanded in 2008, opening an office in Brisbane, Queensland. [6]

In 2011, Georgiou received the construction industry's first endorsed Reconciliation Action Plan. [7]

The Company expanded further by opening an office in Sydney, New South Wales, in 2015.

Georgiou’s New South Wales General Manager, Rob Monaci, replaced John Georgiou as Chief Executive Officer on 1 August 2018, when John Georgiou became Executive Chairman of the Company's Board of Directors. [8]

Gary Georgiou was appointed Chief Executive Officer in July 2022. [9]

In 2023, Georgiou expanded to have offices in the Gold Coast, Queensland and Darwin, Northern Territory. [10]

Pacific Highway is a 790-kilometre-long (491 mi) national highway and major transport route along the central east coast of Australia, with the majority of it being part of Australia's Highway 1. The highway and its adjoining Pacific Motorway between Brisbane and Brunswick Heads and Pacific Motorway between Sydney and Newcastle links the state capitals of Sydney in New South Wales with Brisbane in Queensland, approximately paralleling the Tasman Sea and the Coral Sea of the South Pacific Ocean coast, via regional cities and towns like Gosford, Newcastle, Taree, Port Macquarie, Kempsey, Coffs Harbour, Grafton, Ballina, Byron Bay, Tweed Heads and the Gold Coast, which is part of Queensland. The northern terminus is at Reid Highway and Great Northern Highway in Middle Swan, and the southern terminus is with Murdoch Drive at the Kwinana Freeway interchange in Bibra Lake. Roe Highway, in addition to Reid Highway, form State Route 3, a partial ring road around the outer suburbs of the Perth metropolitan area. Roe Highway also forms part of National Highway 94 from Great Eastern Highway Bypass to Great Eastern Highway, and National Highway 95 from Great Eastern Highway to Great Northern Highway.

Ellenbrook is a northeastern suburb of Perth, Western Australia, about 30 km (19 mi) from Perth's central business district (CBD), located within the City of Swan. Ellenbrook, and its neighbouring suburbs of The Vines and Aveley, are unusual for Perth in being a significant distance from neighbouring suburbs. Given this relative isolation and the distance from the CBD, Ellenbrook has been designed and developed as a self-sustainable community. Since the upgrade of Gnangara Road and the completion of the Tonkin Highway Northlink, access to Ellenbrook has improved. The Morley–Ellenbrook railway line is well underway as at June 2021 and this will enable better public transport. At the time of the 2016 census there were 22,681 people living in the gazetted suburb, by June 2018, it was estimated that the urban population for Ellenbrook and surrounds had grown to 41,382. It is envisioned that Ellenbrook will eventually become a satellite city, with a population of 80,000.

Tonkin Highway is an 81-kilometre-long (50 mi) north–south highway and partial freeway in Perth, Western Australia, linking Perth Airport and Kewdale with the city's north-eastern and south-eastern suburbs. As of April 2020, the northern terminus is at the interchange with Brand Highway and Great Northern Highway in Muchea, and the southern terminus is at Thomas Road in Oakford. It forms the entire length of State Route 4, and connects to several major roads. Besides Brand Highway and Great Northern Highway, it also connects to Reid Highway, Great Eastern Highway, Leach Highway, Roe Highway, and Albany Highway.

It was originally named after the nearby suburb of Redcliffe; it was renamed in December 2023 following the completion of upgrades to the bridge and Tonkin Highway. "Mooro" and "Beeloo" are the names for the Whadjuk clans that lived in territory north and south of the Swan River respectively.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Aubin Grove railway station</span> Railway station in Western Australia

Aubin Grove railway station is a commuter railway station serving Atwell, Aubin Grove, Hammond Park and Success, which are suburbs of Perth, Western Australia. It is on the Mandurah line, which is part of the Transperth network, and is located immediately north of Russell Road in the median of the Kwinana Freeway. It has two platform faces on a singular island platform, which is linked to either side of the freeway by a pedestrian overpass. Services run every 10 minutes during peak and every 15 minutes between peak. The journey to Perth railway station is 23.8 kilometres (14.8 mi) and takes 21 minutes. The station has a bus interchange with four bus stands and seven regular bus routes.

NorthLink WA was a road construction project in Perth, Western Australia, that saw both the northern section of Tonkin Highway upgraded, and the road extended northwards as the Swan Valley Bypass, to bypass Great Northern Highway. These two component projects were separately funded, with both the state and federal governments contributing to each project. Construction commenced in June 2016 and was completed on 23 April 2020.

The Perth Freight Link was a proposed $1.9 billion project in Perth, Western Australia to improve the road freight link between Kewdale and Fremantle Harbour. The project was announced by the state government in May 2014, but was cancelled following a change of government at the March 2017 state election.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Morley–Ellenbrook line</span> Future railway in Perth, Western Australia

The Morley–Ellenbrook line is an under construction suburban rail service between the Perth central business district and Ellenbrook in Western Australia. Construction began in 2021 as part of Metronet, and it is planned to open in late 2024.
