Michael Stanley Dukakis is an American retired lawyer and politician who served as governor of Massachusetts from 1975 to 1979 and again from 1983 to 1991. He is the longest-serving governor in Massachusetts history and only the second Greek-American governor in U.S. history,after Spiro Agnew. He was nominated by the Democratic Party for president in the 1988 election,losing to the Republican nominee,Vice President George H. W. Bush.

Edward Robert Vrdolyak,also known as "Fast Eddie",is a former American politician and lawyer. He eventually resigned from this post in January 2009,just six months prior to being indicted on several Federal charges,including conspiracy to defraud the federal government,extortion,mail fraud and wire fraud. DiMasi was found guilty on 7 of 9 federal corruption charges on June 15,2011. DiMasi is the third consecutive Massachusetts house speaker to later become a convicted felon due to crimes committed in office.
Peter "Papa Bear" Mazzaferro is a former American football coach. With the exception of the 1987 season,he was the head football coach at Bridgewater State College in Bridgewater,Massachusetts,from 1968 to 2004. He compiled a career college football head coaching record of 209–158–11.
David M. Nangle is an American state legislator and convicted felon who served in the Massachusetts House of Representatives from 1999 to 2020. He is a Lowell resident and a member of the Democratic Party. While a member of the House,he served as the chair of the House Ethics committee. In February 2021,Nangle pleaded guilty to charges of wire fraud,bank fraud,making false statements to a bank,and filing false tax returns and was sentenced to 15 months in prison and two years of supervised release. He was released from federal custody on November 10,2022.

In May 2021,Correia was convicted of multiple federal charges in a trial held in Boston;on September 21,2021,Correia was sentenced to six years in federal prison followed by three years of supervised release. On April 22,2022,Correia reported to a Federal Correctional Institution to begin serving his six-year sentence.
In 2019,a scandal arose over a criminal conspiracy to influence undergraduate admissions decisions at several top American universities. The investigation into the conspiracy was code named Operation Varsity Blues. The investigation and related charges were made public on March 12,2019,by United States federal prosecutors. At least 53 people have been charged as part of the conspiracy,a number of whom pleaded guilty or agreed to plead guilty. Thirty-three parents of college applicants were accused of paying more than $25 million between 2011 and 2018 to William Rick Singer,organizer of the scheme,who used part of the money to fraudulently inflate entrance exam test scores and bribe college officials. Of the 32 parents named in a Federal Bureau of Investigation affidavit filed in U.S. District Court in Boston,more than half had apparently paid bribes to have their children enrolled at the University of Southern California (USC).
John Patrick McGonigle was an American corrections officer and politician who served as Sheriff of Middlesex County,Massachusetts from 1985 to 1994. He was convicted of tax evasion and pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit racketeering for demanding kickbacks from two of his deputies.
Paul J. Ellison was an American politician who served on the Boston School Committee from 1972 to 1976. In 1976,he was convicted of larceny for endorsing and cashing checks made out to his assistants.
Ernest C. Stasiun was an American politician who served on the Massachusetts Governor's Council from 1959 to 1965. He was convicted of bribery in 1965.
