Giorgos Papadopoulos is a Greek Cypriot singer [1] who began his career in Cyprus. After three successful EPs he released his first album in both Greek and Cypriot markets and started gaining popularity in Greece as well. He has worked with Anna Vissi, Christos Dantis, Nama, Constantinos Christoforou, Christos Thiveos, Helena Paparizou, and others. [2] [3] [4]

Early life

Giorgos Papadopoulos was born in Nicosia, Cyprus, on May 26, 1985, to Greek Cypriot parents. His involvement in music started at a very young age and when he was 14 years old he formed his first musical group called "Εξ Επαφής" that performed at school and charity events. He also received various awards distinctions in music competitions.

Discography

First EP, released only in Cyprus. Reached Gold status. The lead single was a composition by popular Greek composer Christos Dantis. The song was later included in Dantis live album performed by himself.

The second EP, also only released in Cyprus, also achieving Gold status. Lead single was presented during Anna Vissi sold-out concert in Nicosia, Cyprus before reaching No. 1 in Cypriot airplay.

Papadopoulos final release with All Records Cyprus, was this third EP. The lead single Kati Mou Leei was another No. 1 hit for Papadopoulos composed by Constantinos Christoforou. The song was later covered by Christoforou himself on his 2009 album Alios.

Papadopoulos debut album and first release in Greece after he joined Virus Records. The album featured 13 all-new songs. Three singles were taken off the original release, that being Ochi (No), a top 20 hit in Greece and No. 1 in Cyprus, Ta Psichologika Mou and Thalasses (another top 20 hit in Greece).

In 2009 the album was re-released in two editions. The first was a 2-CD box set featuring the original release package and a bonus disc Soma Me Soma with 4 bonus songs and 4 video clips. The second edition is a CD+DVD set with the CD containing all 13 songs from the original release + the 4 bonus songs from Soma Me Soma and a DVD with the 4 video clips. The 4 bonus songs were new top 20 single Soma Me Soma, Gia Tin Agapi Sou the official soundtrack of the TV-series of Ant1 Cyprus with the same name (already a big hit in Cyprus) and a top 30 hit in Greece, Sose Me from the 2004 EP and Maybe a cover of Ochi in English. The 4 video clips were: Ochi, Ta Psichologika Mou, Thalasses and Gia Tin Agapi Sou. In June 2010 the album was certified 2× Platinum in Greece. [5]

In March 2010 his second album was released titled "Mazi Mou Se Thelo (I Want You With Me)". First single off the album was the song "Min Svinis Ta Fota" which reached top 20 in Greece and number one in Cyprus. The second single from the album is "Ti Na Protothimitho" which also reached number one in Cyprus. [6] The album was certified Gold in Greece.

In Autumn 2011 it was announced that a new album was in the works to be released by December 2011. An official presentation of the album took place and the first single of the album was presented. The official released date was beginning of January 2012. But a strike at his record company and a further closure of it delayed the release. A second single was released in Spring 2012, and the third single of the album was released in June 2012. Immediately after the album was finally released, this time from the record company Heaven Music, it reached top 10 of the official IFPI album charts. His fourth single off the album was released in September 2012.

Songwriting career

Giorgos Papadopoulos is an active songwriter, having written songs for many popular Greek artists, including Helena Paparizou, Giorgos Mazonakis, Tamta, Kostas Martakis, Panos Kiamos, Kaiti Garbi, Melina Aslanidou and Notis Sfakianakis, among others.

ONE is a boy band that first appeared in 1999, recognized as both Greece and Cyprus's first boy band. The band was formed by leading Cypriot-Greek composer Giorgos Theofanous and Minos EMI A&R Manager Vangelis Yannopoulos. Constantinos Christophorou and Philippos-Constantinos Philippou were on board quite early, chosen by Giorgos Theofanous. The next three members were picked up after a selective audition that took place in legendary Athenian Sierra Studio. The selecting committee consisted of Natalia Germanou, Posidonas Yannopoulos, Andreas Kouris, Themis Georgandas, Theofanous and Yannopoulos. Demetres Koutsavlakis, Argyris Nastopoulos and Panos Tserpes were retained among 179 candidates. Christoforou followed a solo career in 2003, and was replaced by another Cypriot singer, Demos Beke. In their 6-year existence they enjoyed much commercial success and earned platinum certifications, as well as having staged memorable performances with successful Greek singers at music halls and in concerts. In 2005 the band formally disbanded and reunited in 2019.

Constantinos Christophorou is a Greek-Cypriot singer. He represented Cyprus in Eurovision Song Contest as a solo singer with "Mono Yia Mas" (1996) and "Ela Ela " (2005) and as part of the boy band formation One with "Gimme" (2002).

Iparhi Logos is Greek singer Helena Paparizou's second studio album, released on 12 April 2006. Containing 29 songs on two discs, the album was certified gold in five weeks and platinum after five months of its release. It was certified platinum on 1 December 2006 at Iera Odos 30 where Paparizou was performing alongside Nino and Paschalis Terzis at the same certification party as the album The Game of Love. It was re-released on 22 May 2007 as Iparhi Logos: Platinum Edition with a bonus CD-single. The album to date has been released physically in Greece, Cyprus, Turkey, Germany, Austria, Taiwan, Switzerland and Japan.

Anna Vissi Live! is the name of a live Greek album by singer Anna Vissi. It is her first live album and was released in Greece and Cyprus in December 1993. It was recorded in Zoom night club, in Plaka, Athens, a place where Vissi began her first shows in Greece during the 70s. The release was scheduled to celebrate the first two decades of Vissi's singing career (1973–1993). The tracklist included live covers of many of her hits so far, as well as covers of her early recordings back in the 70s, as to honour Stavros Kougioumtzis and Doros Georgiadis, the first composers she collaborated with. It also featured three duets with fellow singers Lampis Livieratos and Yannis Siamsiaris, who also served as backing vocalists. Anna Vissi dedicated the album to her daughter Sofia Karvela.

"Fos" is an EP by Greek artist, Helena Paparizou. It was released on 18 May 2007 by Sony BMG Greece and was featured as a bonus CD on the repackaged Yparhi Logos: Platinum Edition album. The CD single contains "Fos", along with four other new tracks, including "Mazi Sou" and a cover of "Le Temps des Fleurs". "Mazi Sou" is the only original song on the EP, the rest are covers.

<i>This Is My Live</i> 2007 live album by Sakis Rouvas

This Is My Live is the name of the second live album by Greek singer Sakis Rouvas, released on 12 December 2007 in Greece and Cyprus by Minos EMI. The album was recorded on 9 September 2007 at Rouvas' sold-out show at Lycabetus Theatre with an audience of 7,000. The concert was the final stop on the musician's Benefit Tour for the Greek fire victims of 2007. The combined effort of the tour and other appearances by Rouvas raised over €1,000,000 in fundraiser, becoming one of the greatest sources of aid and relief. The majority of the proceeds of this concert went to fire victims in Greece, particularly those of the 2007 Greek forest fires, however, another intention was to promote blood donation which was running short in Athens. As a result, thousands of pints of blood were collected.

The 2-CD set includes 44 recordings from 1957 - 1995 for the Minos EMI Label and covers her early work with Stelios Kazantzidis and her later solo years. It also includes duets with Tolis Voskopoulos, Yiannis Parios and Kostas Spyropoulos. It was released on 26 December 2005 in Greece by Minos EMI.

The 2013 MAD Video Music Awards were the 10th award ceremony, hosted by Themis Georgantas and Mary Sinatsaki. They took place on 25 June 2013. The awards were broadcast from the Tae Kwon Do Stadium in Athens, honoring the best music videos and artists of the past year. The theme song, "We Are Young", was performed by the Australian-Greek singer Vassy. The nominations were announced on 23 May 2013 by the presenter, Themis Georgantas. Vegas received five nominations, while Elena Paparizou, Sakis Rouvas, Michalis Hatzigiannis, Melisses and Demy received four. The song "All the Time" received three nominations, the most for any song.
