Green Acres, Visalia, California

Green Acres is a neighborhood in Northwest Visalia that is bordered by Downtown Visalia on the east, the Sequoia Freeway on the south, Demaree on the west, and Goshen Avenue on the north. Main Street is the area's principal thoroughfare which divides Green Acres into north and south sections. However, Green Acres can be recognized by the large amount of Valley Oak trees that crowd the banks of Mill Creek. The Visalia Country Club anchors the neighborhood. Homes in the eastern section, often referred to as "Old Green Acres," near North Fairway Street, are typically pre-War II while post-war and mid-century homes approach and cross westerly at North Ranch Street.

The Visalia Unified School District is a school district in Tulare County, California. VUSD was established in 1965. VUSD was created by the unification of Visalia Union High School and the elementary districts it served. It had among its origins the Packwood School, created in 1845, and the Visalia City School District created in 1855. With that ancestry, VUSD can claim to be the oldest school district in Tulare County. Garden Street Academy is a K-12 independent school located in Santa Barbara, California, United States. Garden Street was founded as a K-6 school in 2002 and was created under the paradigm that a focus on social emotional learning is critical to academic achievement. Within two years, the Middle School program was added, followed by the Upper School in 2005. Pier Fire

The Pier Fire was a wildfire that burned near Springville and in the Sequoia National Forest, in California in the United States. The fire was reported on August 29, 2017. The cause of the fire is under investigation, but is believed to be human-caused. The fire was completely extinguished on November 29, after it had burned 36,556 acres (148 km2). The fire threatened old growth sequoia trees, the Tule River Indian Reservation, and many small communities in the area.
