The Green Party of Timor (Portuguese : Partido os Verdes de Timor), commonly known as The Greens (Portuguese : Os Verdes), is a political party in East Timor. [1]
Twice the party failed in its attempt to register officially with the East Timor Supreme Court of Justice. The first time, in January 2021, the criteria for identifying signatories were not met. [2] In the second attempt, there were irregularities with the records from four municipalities. [1] On 21 April 2022, the court finally granted provisional approval, which was officially published on 26 April. On 5 April, the East Timorese Ministry of Justice had already confirmed the receipt of the necessary 20,000 signatures. [3]
According to the press, the party has its strongest supporters among members of the ritual arts groups 7-7, whose symbols can be found in many parts of the state capital Dili. [1]
On 30 January 2022, the party gave its leader António Lela Hunu Cruz the power to decide on a candidate for the 2022 East Timorese presidential election. However, the deadline to officially notify the court on 4 February passed. [1] Instead, the Greens publicly supported the incumbent Francisco Guterres of the left-leaning Fretilin. Green supporters appeared as endorsers with their party flags at campaign events, along with activists. However, the presidential election was won by José Ramos-Horta. [4]
The PVT says it wants a "resilient, inclusive and sustainable society". It wants to represent unemployed youth, traditions, the disabled and environmental protection. Based on the 7-7, President Hunu Cruz calls "ritual, cultural, spiritual and heritage arts part of East Timor" and belonging to the "principle of the 7-7" and the party. [1]
The party's logo with the clenched fist is clearly derived from the logo of Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI).

José Alexandre "Xanana" Gusmão is an East Timorese politician. A former rebel, he was the first president of the independent East Timor, from 2002 to 2007. He then became its fourth prime minister, from 2007 to 2015. Gusmão holds the office of minister of planning and strategic investment since stepping down as PM.
Max Christopher Wenner, known as Christopher Wenner and later as Max Stahl, was a British journalist and television presenter. He was best known for filming an East Timorese demonstration and its aftermath that became known as the Santa Cruz massacre. His coverage of East Timor's struggle for independence is listed in Unesco's Memory of the World register as a "turning point" in the birth of a new nation.
The Timorese Social Democratic Association was a political party in East Timor. Both the original ASDT of the 1970s and the current party of the same name are founded by the late ex-Timorese President Francisco Xavier do Amaral.
The Christian Democratic Union of Timor UDC was a centre-right, Christian democratic political party in East Timor.

The National Unity Party is a Christian democratic party in East Timor. Its predecessor, the National Party, was founded by Fernanda Borges in October 2005. From it emerged the PUN, which was officially registered on January 17, 2007. Leading members of the Colimau 2000 are members of the PUN. Parts of the Catholic Church in East Timor also support the PUN. The party is centered in the western Municipalities of Ermera and Bobonaro. Party leader is Fernanda Borges, secretary general is Maria Fatima de Deus.
East Timor–Russia relations are the bilateral relations between East Timor and Russia. Neither country has a resident ambassador. Russia was one of the first countries to recognize East Timor's independence and took part in nearly all UN aid programs, providing food and relief personnel, including civil and transport aviation pilots.
The Order of Timor-Leste is the highest honour currently awarded by East Timor. Established in 2009, the order was created after the original honours granted by East Timor. It is of a more general and broader nature than the original orders related to East Timor's independence. The order recognises the contributions of East Timorese and foreign nationals who have made a significant contribution to East Timor, the Timorese or Mankind in general.
Parliamentary elections were held in East Timor on 22 July 2017. Fretilin narrowly emerged as the largest party in the National Parliament, winning 23 seats to the 22 won by the National Congress for Timorese Reconstruction, which had been the largest party in the outgoing Parliament.
Tatoli, formerly known as Timor-Leste News Agency, is the official state run news agency of East Timor. It was launched on 27 July 2016. The word "Tatoli" is Tetum in origin, and means "to entrust someone to be passed on; passing on for someone".
Liga Futebol Timor-Leste (LFTL) is a league competition featuring football clubs from Timor Leste. It replaced the Super Liga Timorense in 2015. The competition initially consisted of two main divisions, the Primeira Divisão and Segunda Divisão, however was expanded to include a third division in 2019. As of 2020 the winner of the previous Premeria Divisão season represents Timor Leste in the AFC Cup.

He is the incumbent Minister for the Affairs of National Liberation Combatants, serving since May 2020 in the VIII Constitutional Government of East Timor led by Prime Minister Taur Matan Ruak.
The Centro Acção Social-Democrata Timorense, abbreviated as Centro ASDT or CASDT is a political party in Timor-Leste. Founded by its late first party president Gil da Costa A.N. Alves, he was the former Secretary General of the Associação Social-Democrata Timorense (ASDT) party. The party motto is “Justiça, Unidade, Solidaridade”.
Luis Roberto da Silva is an East Timorese politician from KHUNTO. He is currently Vice-President of the National Parliament.
Parliamentary elections were held in East Timor on 21 May 2023. The governing coalition going into the election was a four-party government of Fretilin–PLP–KHUNTO–PD, whilst CNRT was in opposition and held the executive branch.
