Gunter Pleuger (born 25 March 1941 in Wismar, Germany) is a German diplomat and politician.
He studied in politics and law in Bonn, and subsequently Cologne.
From 11 November 2002 to 2006, Pleuger was the German ambassador to the United Nations. He was succeeded by Thomas Matusek. [1] Since 1 October 2008, he has acted as president of the Viadrina European University in Frankfurt (Oder). [2]

The Humboldt-Viadrina School of Governance was a higher education school in Berlin, Germany from 2003 to 2014, established through a unique partnership between two public universities: Viadrina European University in Frankfurt (Oder) and the Humboldt University of Berlin, one of Berlin's oldest universities. The Brückepreis is an international prize given annually to a person who contributed by a life's work to better understanding between peoples in Europe. It is awarded annually, beginning in 1993, by the town of Görlitz/Zgorzelec. The Europastadt lies in both Germany and Poland, connected by a bridge across the Neisse river, and not far from the Czech Republic. The bridge appears in the prize name also for building bridges among peoples and states, as Norbert Lammert, the president of the Bundestag, expressed in his laudatio for Arvo Pärt in 2007. The official name is Internationaler Brückepreis der Europastadt Görlitz/Zgorzelec. The prize money is €2,500. The prize is managed by an association, Gesellschaft zur Verleihung des Internationalen Brückepreises der Europastadt Görlitz/Zgorzelec.
Martin Glaum is a German economist and author and has held the Otto Beisheim Endowed Chair of International Accounting at the WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management since 2014. Before this he held the Chair of International Management, Accounting and Auditing at the University of Giessen in Giessen, Germany. Until 1999 he was a Professor of International Management at the Viadrina European University in Frankfurt (Oder). He was born in Wetzlar, Germany.
The Collegium Polonicum in Słubice is a joint academic unit of the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań and of the Viadrina European University in Frankfurt (Oder). Its focus is on interdisciplinary scientific research and teaching on German-Polish, European, intercultural and cross-border issues. Collegium Polonicum is also a branch of the Adam Mickiewicz University in Słubice, in whose building this joint unit is physically based. This building had been erected in the years 1992-2001 by the Adam Mickiewicz University for the purpose of joint research and teaching activities with the Viadrina European University. As branch of Adam Mickiewicz University, Collegium Polonicum is one of four such units located outside Poznań and notably housing the Academic Secondary School for General Education in Słubice.

Jan Hecker was a German lawyer and diplomat. He was an advisor to German Chancellor Angela Merkel and a judge at the Federal Administrative Court, as well as an adjunct professor at the European University Viadrina. He died shortly after taking office as German ambassador to the People's Republic of China.
