The HR Top 40 are the main Croatian domestic singles airplay chart, issued weekly by the Croatian Music Institute (Institut Hrvatske Glazbe) and the Croatian Phonographic Association (Hrvatska Diskografska Udruga) through Top lista. The charts are a record of the most played domestic songs in various genres in Croatia. HR Top 40 became the official Croatian airplay chart in December 2012.

History

The chart launched on 24 January 2013 with the data collected from the 14th of January to the 20th of January being published in the first issue of the chart. [1] Originally, the data from 80 radio stations was collected to form a list of the 40 most played domestic songs in Croatia. [2] The airplay chart contained data generated by the Playkontrol system according to any song played during the period starting the previous Monday at time 00:00:00 and ending Sunday night at 23:59:59. [3] Once a week, every Monday, the chart was published via the Croatian Music Institute's (IHG) official web page. [3] The first number song was "Neopisivo" by Nina Badrić. [4] Since July 2015 the chart is being is being published once a week, every Monday, through its official website. [5] Two days prior, every Saturday, the chart is also being aired on its own show on the television channel RTL 2. [6] Since 2015 the data from more than 140 radio stations across the country is being collected to form the chart. [7] In July 2015 6 regional charts started being published on a weekly basis with the main chart. [8]

There are five criteria points which are taken into consideration when forming the chart: [6]

Records

Current recorders of the chart are Vatra with song "Tango", which spent 25 consecutive weeks at number one, [9] while Massimo Savić's song "Mali krug velikih ljudi" holds the record for most non-consecutive weeks at number one with a total of 30 weeks. [10] Psihomodo Pop's "Donna" was the first song to which spend the maximum of 52 consecutive weeks on the chart. [11] Savić's "Mali krug velikih ljudi" was the first song to spend a total of 30 weeks atop the chart and holds the record for most weeks at number one. [12] Kornelija Petak was the youngest person to ever chart on the HR Top 40 chart, at the time when "Ja sam takva kava sam" debuted she was only 16 years old. [13] Igor Delač holds the record for most consecutive number one singles; from Budan in 2018 to his latest single "Ne zaboravi" in 2022, a total of eight singles reached the top spot. [14]

In late 2003, Lozar formed the boy band Saša, Tin i Kedžo together with Damir Kedžo and Tin Samardžić. Lozar began to adopt a more mature image as an artist with the release of his debut solo album 1 Dan (2007).

Natali Dizdar, also known as Natalie Dizdar, is a Croatian pop singer.

Matija Cvek is a Croatian singer and songwriter. He rose to fame by participating in HRT's show A strana. He first gained public attention in 2018 when he released his song "Visine". Cvek's first studio album, Izbirljivo i slučajno (2021), debuted atop the Croatian Albums Chart.

Lorena, whose birth name is Lorena Bućan, is a Croatian singer. Lorena rose to fame in 2018 after finishing third on the second season of Zvijezde. She has signed a contract with record label Tonika Records where she primarily collaborates with musician Tonči Huljić. <i>Moderna Žena</i> 2016 studio album by Jelena Rozga

Moderna Žena is the third studio album by Croatian pop singer Jelena Rozga. It was released on 16 December 2016 through Croatia Records. Moderna Žena is a dual-disc album with the first disc containing newer songs, while the second disc consists of songs that Rozga released in the period between 2011 and 2014. As with Rozga's previous two studio albums, the duo Tonči Huljić and Vjekoslava Huljić served as the main producer and songwriter, respectively. In addition to producers collaborators Remi Kazinoti and Pero Kozomara whom the singer collaborated with on previous songs, Moderna Žena also saw the work of new collaborators Boris Đurđević, Leo Škaro and Dušan Bačić among others.

Croatian singer-songwriter Mia Dimšić has released three studio albums, one extended play (EP) and 18 singles.

"Pismo-Glava" is a song by Croatian pop singer Jelena Rozga from her third studio album Moderna žena (2016). "Pismo-Glava" was written by Croatian lyricist and songwriter Vjekoslava Huljić and arranged and produced by Tonči Huljić. "Pismo-Glava" premiered on Naxi Radio in Belgrade, Serbia on 2 December 2016. It was released as a single through Croatia Records on 8 December 2016. "Pismo-Glava" is an emotional slow-tempo ballad that expresses the love feelings of a female protagonist towards her doubtful male counterpart. Several music critics praised the song's sound, which they recognized as typical for the singer. "Pismo-Glava" was commercially successful in Croatia where it managed to debut and peak at number 5 on the HR Top 40 for the week ending 8 December 2016.

"'Zar je ljubav spala na to (Obećanja)" is a song by Croatian pop band Magazin featuring Bosnian rock singer Mladen Vojičić Tifa. It was written by Croatian songwriter and lyricist Vjekoslava Huljić and produced by Tonči Huljić. It was released as a single through Croatia Records in 2001. The song was well received by both of the singers' fanbases. Commercially, the song achieved success in Croatia and the wider Yugoslav region. A music video was released which features the band and both of the lead vocalists singing the song along with scenes from the 2000 movie What Women Want. It is watched 1.5 million times as of September 2022.

Croatian singer Luka Nižetić has released six studio albums, one live album and 41 singles.

Croatian singer-songwriter Vanna has released seven studio albums, four live albums, three compilation albums, and 45 singles. From 1991 to 1998 she was the lead vocalist of the Croatian eurodance band Electro Team. With the group, she released three studio albums before starting her solo career in 1998. Vanna's debut studio album, I to sam ja, was released in early 1997 while she was still in the group. The album spawned two singles, "You Must Love Me" and "Crazy", and included mostly cover songs.
