Habshan

Habshan is an area in the southwestern part of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates.

It is currently a major oil and gas field for the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC). [1] It contains oil field and camps for oil workers. The major part of this region is marked as a Red Zone due to the presence of hydrogen sulphide gas.[ citation needed ]

The area is a major production area for Sulphur, a byproduct of the oil industry, [2] and is the terminal station of a new railway network in the United Arab Emirates developed by Etihad Rail. Commercial operations on this railway commenced in December 2015. [3]

Etihad Rail DB is responsible for the operations and maintenance of Stage One of the UAE's national railway network for Etihad Rail’s primary customer, the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC). Etihad Rail DB concluded an Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Agreement with Etihad Rail in August 2013.

Shah is a petroleum installation and freight railway station in the Western Region of Abu Dhabi Emirate. It is connected by a 264 km long freight railway line to Ruwais and is part of the Etihad Rail network. The railway was opened in 2015 and is used to transport sulphur, a by-product of the petroleum industry.
