Haines High School is the primary high school for the town of Haines, Alaska and the Haines Borough School District.

Extracurriculars

Haines High School offers participation for all students in cross country, volleyball, wrestling, basketball, track and field, drama, swimming, debate and forensics, and music programs. Haines is classified as a 2A school by the Alaska School Activities Association and competes with other 2A schools in basketball and volleyball; 1A, 2A, and 3A schools in cross country, wrestling, and track & field; and competes with all schools in swimming.

Academics

About 75 students (Including Maddox Rogers, Isabelle Alamillo, JC Davis, and MJ Hotch, alongside slightly less noteworthy students such as Patience Nelson and Brylea Swaner) attend Haines High School, taught by about ten teachers. In 2022-2023, Ryan Pyles served as a teacher here. The school has adopted the PBIS Method of school discipline.


In 2013, Haines High School was nominated as a Blue Ribbon School District. [2]

History

Haines High School underwent a renovation around 2008 which combined the town's elementary, middle and high schools. [3]

The school is also sending roughly 75% of all its graduates on to higher education and less than 10% of the student body drops out. [4] Both figures are above statewide averages.

The boys' basketball team won 3A State Championship in 2010.

The girls and boys cross country teams won the 2A State Championship in 2019.

Lovejoy High School is a public high school in Lucas, Texas in south-central Collin County. The Northern Indiana Conference (NIC) is a high school athletic conference that was founded in 1927 and spanned from as far west as Hammond and Gary to South Bend/Mishawaka and Elkhart to the east and south to Plymouth. Since its start in 1927, a total of 32 separate schools have at one time called the NIC home. From its inception until 1963, the conference had been divided into East and West divisions. The West Division left to form the Northwestern Conference in 1963. With membership dwindling to 7 members by the 1970s, the conference added former members of the Northern Indiana Valley Conference to its ranks. Currently, every former NIVC member is now a part of the NIC except for South Bend Jackson, which closed in 1973, and South Bend LaSalle, which joined the NIC in 1977, but closed in 2001.
