The Handball Liga Austria (HLA) is the professional handball league of Austria.

Competition format

The season begins with a regular season between the ten teams. The first five teams qualify for a first playoff round, while the last five play a play-down round. At the end of this second round, the five teams of the playoff round and the top three teams of the play-down round play elimination rounds. The last two play a relegation round.

The Austrian Football Bundesliga, also known as Admiral Bundesliga for sponsorship reasons, is the top level of the Austrian football league system. The competition decides the Austrian national football champions, as well the country's entrants for the various European cups run by UEFA. Since Austria stayed in sixteenth place in the UEFA association coefficient rankings at the end of the 2015–16 season, the league gained its first spot for the UEFA Champions League for the 2016–17 season.

This is a list of the 2010 European Men's Handball Championship squads. Each team had until 15 December 2009 to register 28 players. Of these 28 players, the national associations must choose 16 players at least one day before the tournament. After this a maximum of two players can be replaced with a player from the original 28. After the main round has started, yet another player can be replaced.

The 1999–2000 Austrian Cup was the 66th season of Austria's nationwide football cup competition. It commenced with the matches of the preliminary round in July 1999 and concluded with the Final on 16 May 2000. The competition was won by Grazer AK after beating Austria Salzburg 4–3 on penalties and hence qualifying for the 2000–01 UEFA Cup.

The earliest Austrian walled towns started to appear in the late 11th century to the early 13th century. Their establishment was closely connected with the development of Austria as a march of the Holy Roman Empire and in particular by the Hohenstaufen emperors and their Marcher Lords, the Babenbergs. In present-day Austria, there are 106 towns or cities that were walled. The walls of Radstadt, Freiburg, Hainburg and Drosendorf survive almost intact, and Austria has some of the most impressive walled towns in Europe.

The 1998–99 Austrian Cup was the 65th season of Austria's nationwide football cup competition. The final was held at the Ernst-Happel-Stadion, Vienna on 18 May 1999.

The 2016–17 Handball Liga Austria is the 56th season of the Handball Liga Austria, Austrian's top-tier handball league. A total of ten teams contest this season's league, which began on 2 September 2016 and is scheduled to conclude in June 2017.

The 2018–19 FC Red Bull Salzburg season was the 86th season in club history. They were defending League champions.

The 2021–22 Austrian Cup was the 91st edition of the national cup in Austrian football. The champions of the cup earn a place in the 2022–23 Europa League play-off round.

The 2022–23 Austrian Cup was the 92nd edition of the national cup in Austrian football. The final was held on 1 May 2023 in Klagenfurt with SK Puntigamer Sturm Graz capturing its 6th title with a 2–0 win over SK Rapid Wien. Sturm earned a place in the 2023–24 Europa League play-off round.
