The Schiller Prize of the City of Mannheim has been awarded by the City of Mannheim since 1954. It was donated on the occasion of the 175th anniversary of the National Theatre. The Hildegard von Bingen Prize for Journalism is an annual journalism award. Since 1995, it is awarded by the Board of Trustees of the Hildegard von Bingen Prize. Former award winners are members of the Board of Trustees. The award was founded in 1995 by the biographer and journalist Helmut Ahrens. A publicist is honored "for an outstanding, professionally and culturally important journalistic individual achievement or a life's work." The prize money is €10,000. The prize is awarded in Mainz. The award is named after the medieval abbess Hildegard von Bingen. The abbess was convinced that writing and word have their own effect.
The Mainzer Stadtschreiber is an annual German literature award. It is awarded by ZDF, 3sat and the city of Mainz and was founded in 1984. The award is endowed with €12,500. Additionally the laureate receives the right to live in the town clerk's domicile in the Gutenberg Museum in Mainz for one year. Together with ZDF, the recipient is able to produce a documentary based on a free choice of topic.
Panorama is the oldest German current affairs television magazine, first aired on 4 June 1961. It is produced by Norddeutscher Rundfunk (NDR), and is aired every third week on Thursdays at 21:45, alternating with Monitor and Kontraste by Das Erste. Anja Reschke has been moderator since 2001. It became popular, with often controversial topics leading to broader discussions and legal consequences.
