Hardwick or Hardwicke is a place in Bryan County, Georgia. [1] The town was laid out in 1754. [2] Harwick was the county seat of Bryan County from 1793 through 1797. [3]

In some cases, "Hardwick" and "Hardwicke" are interchangeable and the spelling has evolved over time.

The Baldwin State Prison, previously the Baldwin Correctional Institution and the Georgia Women's Correctional Institution (GWCI), is a prison located in Milledgeville, Georgia, United States. The prison has a capacity of 900. After complaints in the early 1990s by more than 200 women of sexual abuse by guards, an investigation was conducted. More than a dozen guards were prosecuted. The state decided to move the women to other prison facilities for a total change in culture. This facility now houses only adult male felons, with a capacity of 992.

Bostick State Prison is a former prison located in Hardwick in Baldwin County, Georgia. It was constructed in the 1950s and converted to a prison in 1987. It closed in May 2010.

Men's State Prison was a Georgia Department of Corrections prison for men in Milledgeville, Georgia, near Hardwick. The facility closed in 2011.

Tallent lies 4 1/2 miles southwest of Patton , and was named for Reverend George W. Tallent, who was a local minister and school commissioner.
