Headington School Oxford Boat Club (HSOBC for short) is a rowing club on the River Thames currently based in rented premises at St Edwards School Boathouse on Godstow Road, Oxford, Oxfordshire. It is the rowing club belonging to Headington School. [1]

The club was founded in 1991. [2] In June 2019 the club was given planning permission to build their own boat house on a new site called Maddy Moorings, on the High Street near Long Wittenham at coordinates 51°38′44″N1°12′36″W / 51.645468°N 1.210125°W / 51.645468; -1.210125 . [3] [4] [5]

The 25th Boat Race between crews from the University of Oxford and the University of Cambridge took place on the River Thames on 4 April 1868. Oxford won by six lengths in a time of 20 minutes and 56 seconds, taking the overall record to 15–10 in their favour. Oxford cox Charles Tottenham became the first person in the history of the event to win five Boat Races, and Cambridge saw their first non-British rower compete.

Reading University Boat Club is the rowing club for the University of Reading in the United Kingdom. It is based at a boat house in Christchurch Meadows on the River Thames in the Reading suburb of Caversham. The club has a focus on sculling. It has consistently been one of the more successful university rowing clubs in Britain, including topping the medal table at the BUCS regatta in 2011 and at the BUCS small boats head in 2014 and 2015, as well as wins at Henley Royal Regatta in 1986, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2013, and is considered one of the top six university rowing clubs in the UK. A number of former members have competed at the Olympics, including double gold-medallists James Cracknell and Helen Glover. The club has organised the Reading University Head of the River race since 1935.
