The Eastern District located on north-eastern part of Hong Kong Island, being one of the 18 administrative districts of Hong Kong. It had a population of 529,603 in 2021 The district has the second highest population while its residents have the third highest median household income among 18 districts.
Chai Wan, formerly known as Sai Wan (西灣), lies at the east end of the urban area of Hong Kong Island next to Shau Kei Wan. The area is administratively part of the Eastern District, and is a mosaic of industrial and residential areas. The population was 186,505 in 2001.
The Island line is one of ten lines of the MTR, the mass transit system in Hong Kong. It runs from Kennedy Town in the Western district to Chai Wan in the Eastern District on Hong Kong Island, passing through the territory's major business districts of Central, Wan Chai and Causeway Bay, and connecting them with built-up areas on the north shore of the island.

Sai Wan Ho is a station on the Hong Kong MTR Island line. It was opened on 31 May 1985. It is located under Shau Kei Wan Road in Sai Wan Ho in the Eastern District.
Shau Kei Wan is a station on the Hong Kong MTR Island line in the neighborhood of Shau Kei Wan. Its concourse is located underground, and an island platform is used to serve trains on the Island line, to and from Kennedy Town and Chai Wan. Its station livery is blue.

Heng Fa Chuen is a private housing estate in Chai Wan, Hong Kong Island, Hong Kong, jointly developed by MTR Corporation and Heng Fa Chuen Development. It is located on the waterfront and offers views of the Tathong Channel. Heng Fa Chuen lies within the Eastern District.
Siu Sai Wan is a residential area in the northeastern part of Hong Kong Island in Hong Kong. It is located in the eastern part of Chai Wan, and is administratively under the Eastern District. The population was 59,729 in June 2011.
Siu Sai Wan Extension was a proposed extension of the Island line to Siu Sai Wan on the eastern end of the Hong Kong Island. A plan was revealed in 2001 after many calls from the Eastern District Board since 1991. Although the population size in Siu Sai Wan is large enough to support a station, the plan was later shelved, despite continued calls from the Eastern District Council.
Island Resort is a high-rise complex located in the Siu Sai Wan area of Hong Kong. Construction of the complex began in 1999, and was completed in 2001. It is also the 71st tallest building in Hong Kong, tied with The Dynasty Tower.
Pak Sha Wan, or Lyee Mun Bay, was a bay to the north of Chai Wan on Hong Kong Island, with Lei Yue Mun, Tseung Kwan O and Tathong Channel opposite. It was reclaimed to construct Heng Fa Chuen, one of the largest private housing estates on Hong Kong Island, MTR Heng Fa Chuen station and Chai Wan Depot.

Oyster Bay, previously known as Siu Ho Wan in proposals, is an MTR station on the Tung Chung line to be constructed southwest of Siu Ho Wan depot in Siu Ho Wan, on Lantau Island. The station will be built at-grade around existing Tung Chung line tracks. The construction of the station was gazetted by the Hong Kong Government in June 2021. The station is expected to open for service in 2030, with the depot remaining in use.
