Henry Gayden (born December 28, 1979) is an American screenwriter, best known for writing the films Earth to Echo (2014), Shazam! (2019) and There's Someone Inside Your House (2021).

Career

Gayden was born in Memphis, Tennessee. [1] In his youth, Gayden attended Memphis University School and after graduation, he commenced his studies at the University of Texas at Austin where he majored in English and radio-television-film. [2] During his time at college, he worked as an entertainment editor for The Daily Texan. [3] After graduating from his degree, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in screenwriting. [1]

In 2013, Gayden worked on the script for the 2014 science-fiction adventure film titled Earth to Echo , which was later directed by Dave Green. [4]

In 2017, Gayden was hired to rewrite Darren Lemke's script for the DC Extended Universe superhero film Shazam! , directed by David F. Sandberg and starring Zachary Levi, Mark Strong, Asher Angel, Jack Dylan Grazer and Djimon Hounsou. [5] Upon release, the film received positive reviews. [6] In April 2019, TheWrap reported that Gayden will return to helm the script for the sequel Shazam! Fury of the Gods . [7] [8]

In March 2018, it was announced that Gayden would write the script for the Netflix slasher film, There's Someone Inside Your House , [9] an adaptation the 2017 novel of the same name by Stephanie Perkins, with Patrick Brice directing. [10] The film was produced by Shawn Levy's 21 Laps Entertainment and James Wan's Atomic Monster Productions, and was released on October 6, 2021. [11]

Sandberg from a screenplay by Henry Gayden who co-wrote the story with Darren Lemke, and stars Zachary Levi, Mark Strong, Asher Angel, Jack Dylan Grazer, and Djimon Hounsou. The film follows teenager Billy Batson (Angel) as he is chosen by the ancient wizard Shazam (Hounsou) to be his new champion by saying the name "Shazam", allowing him to transform into an adult superhero (Levi) with various superpowers. Billy and his foster brother Freddy Freeman (Grazer) must discover Billy's new powers in order to stop the evil Dr. Thaddeus Sivana (Strong) and the Seven Deadly Sins.

Dave Green is an American film and music video director. He is well known for directing several music videos and short films, especially working with Miles Fisher. He made his directorial debut with the 2014 film Earth to Echo, and then directed the 2016 film, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows. He is set to direct Coyote vs. Acme for Warner Bros..

The plot follows Makani Young (Park), a senior transfer student from Hawaii who finds herself in the center of gruesome murder cases in her newly acquainted town of Osborne, Nebraska.
