The Herefordshire Football League, known for sponsorship purposes as ZZOOMM Herefordshire Football League, is an association football competition based in Herefordshire. It also features some clubs from surrounding counties, including Gloucestershire, Worcestershire and Shropshire. The Premier Division operates at level 11 of the English football league system and is a regional feeder league to Step 6 of the National League System.

History

The league was established in 2016 as Herefordshire FA County League after the disbandment of the Herefordshire Football League. [1]

In July 2019, the league was restructured with the Premier Division increasing from 13 to 15 clubs. [2]

In 2021, the Premier Division became a feeder league to Step 6 of the National League System. [3] [4] Hartpury University became the first club to be promoted to Hellenic League Division One.

In July 2022, the competition was renamed to Herefordshire Football League and the Premier Division expanded to 18 teams. [5]

In February 2023, the Herefordshire FA agreed a two-year sponsorship deal with broadband company Zzoomm which saw the Herefordshire Football League be renamed the ZZOOMM Herefordshire Football League from the 2023–24 season. [6]

There were also teams from Berkshire southern Buckinghamshire, Greater London, Hampshire and Northamptonshire, Surrey until the 2020–21 season.

The National League North, formerly the Conference North, is a division of the National League in England, immediately below the National League division. Along with the National League South, it is at the second level of the National League System, and at the sixth tier overall of the English football league system. It consists of teams mostly located in Northern England, the English Midlands and East Anglia. In addition, it can include a small number of teams from the northern-most parts of the South West and South East. Since the start of the 2015–16 season, the league has been known as the National League North.

Wellington Football Club are a football club based in the village of Wellington, Herefordshire, England. The club is affiliated to the Herefordshire County FA. They were re-formed in 1968. In the 2003–04 season, they reached the third round of the FA Vase. They are currently members of the Herefordshire League Premier Division, but resigned before the 2021–22 season. Although officially named simply Wellington F.C., the county in which they play is sometimes appended to their name to differentiate them from the similarly named Wellington A.F.C. based in Somerset.

Ryan Green is a Welsh footballer who plays as a defender for Hellenic League Premier Division club Westfields. He earned two international caps for Wales in 1998, breaking Ryan Giggs's record as their youngest player, a record which has since been surpassed.

The Senior Cup, was formed in 1951 when Ansells Brewery presented Herefordshire FA with the trophy. In the early days the Senior cup became an annual invitation Final. The final often varied in the early years between being a two legged affair or a single match. In 2009 the competition was merged with the much older competition known as the County Challenge Cup, is the county cup for the Herefordshire County Football Association (HCFA). According to the current rules of the competition, it is open to all clubs whose affiliation is with the HCFA. The current holders are Westfields F.C. who won the 2013 competition.

Hereford Football Club is an English association football club from the city of Hereford. They were founded in 2014 as a phoenix club for Hereford United, and inherited their Edgar Street stadium. They are nicknamed 'The Whites' after their predominantly white kit, or 'The Bulls' after the Hereford cattle breed, and their motto is 'Our greatest glory lies not in never having fallen, but in rising when we fall'. The 2017–18 West Midlands (Regional) League season was the 118th in the history of the West Midlands (Regional) League, an English association football competition for semi-professional and amateur teams based in the West Midlands county, Shropshire, Herefordshire, Worcestershire and southern Staffordshire. The league operates three divisions: the Premier Division, see below, at level 10 in the English football league system, Division One at level 11, and Division Two. The Premier Division is one of three divisions which feed into the Midland League Premier Division, the other two being the East Midlands Counties League and the Midland League's own Division One.
