Hisham bin Mohd Hanifah (born May 1967) or sometimes spelled Hisyam, [1] is a Bruneian politician and civil servant from who was previously appointed as the Deputy Minister of Finance from 2015 to 2018, alongside Amin Liew Abdullah. [2]

Biography

Education and early career

Hisham was born in May 1967. [3] In 1991, he received his Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Accounting from Lancashire Polytechnic in the United Kingdom. Following his August 1991 enlistment in the government, he has held a number of positions. They included an accountant from the Ministry of Finance's Deputy Permanent Secretary, an accountant from the Revenue Division, an accountant from the Treasury Department, and an assistant director of the budget division. He served as the Ministry of Finance's Permanent Secretary (Policy and Investment) before taking on his current role. [4]

Ministerial career

Hisham began serving as the Deputy Minister of Finance on 22 October 2015. [4] [1] He was present in the Malaysian Food Festival, which was organised by Royal Brunei Catering (RBC) and Malaysian Tourism from 6 April to 6 May 2017. [5] After ending his tenure on 30 January 2018, [6] he was appointed as the permanent secretary (fiscal). [7]

Other positions

Hisham holds positions as a committee or board member in various organisations, including the National Security Committee, Institut Teknologi Brunei, Semaun Holdings, Brunei Darussalam Central Bank (BDCB), [8] Khazanah Satu, Royal Brunei Airlines from 2008 to 2018 (RBA). [3] Additionally, he was the chairman of other organisations including RBC, RBA Golf Club, Mulaut Abattoir, Telekom Brunei (Telbru), Makan Ceria, National Syariah Financial Supervisory Board, and the deputy chairman of the investment committee of the Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Foundation. [4]

Additionally, she is the co-chair of the Centre of Strategic and Policy Studies, deputy co-chairman of Brunei Economic Development Board (BEDB), Chairman of Ghanim International Corporation, and Director of Royal Brunei Airlines (RBA) from 2021 to 2023. She is also the deputy chairman of the board of directors of several institutions such as Brunei Darussalam Central Bank (BDCB) and Jerudong Park Medical Centre (JPMC).

Khairuddin bin Abdul Hamid is a Bruneian politician who currently serves as the Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy since 2022. Additionally, he is the CEO of Darussalam Assets (DA) on 30 January 2018 and Barramundi Group on 24 October 2022, and members of several organisations including the Brunei Investment Agency (BIA) in July 2012, Brunei Economic Development Board (BEDB) and Stock Exchange Steering Committee, Investment Committee for Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah, Strategic Development Capital Fund and chairman for Brunei Darussalam Central Bank (BDCB).
